You can haggle on PAYG too

I've been on Orange PAYG for several years, and just got round to switching to Asda Mobile because its texts are far cheaper (4p) and that's mainly what I use.
When I called Orange to get a port code to keep my old number, they offered to beat Asda Mobile's text rate by a penny. I was pleased with this offer because I've had a good service from them in the past and it saves me having a separate SIM for Orange Wednesdays
I'm just posting this because I didn't realise PAYG prices were negotiable. Just like on an expired contract, you might be able to save money by calling up your current provider and saying you want to switch to a super-cheap provider like Asda Mobile. If you've been a customer for a while, that probably helps too. And if they don't offer a good deal, switch anyway!
Good to know you don't have to be on contract to get shiny retention deals
