Alliance and Leicester THANK YOU :)

My son suffers from a dairy allergy if he has anything with dairy his face swells and is immediatly covered in itchy red hives he is only 1 year old. Usually I have his allergy relief medicine on stand by but I didnt realise I had run out.
Today he had a biscuit from his brother who is 7 and it came from a factory handling dairy products and had a reaction. I had less than £1 in my wallet and no funds in my account. I had incurred bank charges the past two months of £225 mainly due to the incompetance of the CSA but thats another story!!
I phoned my bank (Alliance and Leicester) and begged them to refund the charges so I could buy my son his medicine the man on the other end of the phone was AMAZING :A he refunded £175 into my account straight away and within 20 minutes my son had his medicine and was looking much better. He also said he was sending me a claim form to refund any other charges I had incurred under hardship as I am out of work at the moment.
So a HUGE THANK YOU to Alliance and Leicester from me and my son xxxxx:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:A:A:A:A:A:A:A:A:A:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Whilst it was very nice of A & L to do this, in the case of an allergic reaction, I wouldn't waste time on the phone to my bank, but would get to a doctors asap. Glad your little one is ok though - that was lucky!

This I am surprised at - when I rang yesterday and begged Alliance and Leicester to sort out an authorisation hold on my account as I have swine flu at the moment and I needed some paracetamol and phone credit because our landline is playing up and I needed to be able to call OH if I needed to - they refused.
    Point blank.
Even though they had admitted it was their fault.
They said I would have to wait until today.
Thats why Im a bit sceptical about this story - A&L arent exactly known for their caring attitude

  • I'm skeptical I'm afraid. For one, prescription should be free. Then poster is a new member and both messages posted so far are praising A & L. Working for them possibly? :o

My daughter has multiple food allergies, I get antihistimine medicine on prescription. If I was as careless as the OP I would walk into my local A&E or surgery and they would give her the medicine for no fee, phone call, or any other effort.

OP-the symptoms you describe your child as having border on serious allergy/anaphylaxis. If that was the case you should have been issued with an epipen for use in situations like this.

The fact you are willing to advertise the fact you 'ran out' of his medicine troubles me a great deal. I would say the emphasis of your experience should be on you failiure to have the correct medicines available rather than singing A&L's praises for what you claim they have done for you.

Lastly, I would advise you to set up a repeat prescription with your GP to to remedy your medication supply issue.

Hi, I'm a paranoid schizophrenic, delusional, have panic attacks, am allergic to most things and am agrophobic. Yesterday when I phoned up Alliance and Leicester the man told me to pull myself together. Yoy know what? He cured me!

    I think they're wonderful.

I'm more concerned about the fact that their child had such severe reaction, and their first thought was to call their bank.
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Paraceatamol (sp) is only 16p a packet, so probably cost less than the call to go and buy ;)
