Plaster over tiles?

I'm getting my bathroom done in the next week or two (at last!!). The workman has suggested plastering over tiles as an alternative to removing tiles and possibly replacing walls. Has anyone tried this? I'm a bit sceptical that it would be the same finish as a plastered wall.

Will you be getting some hay in to feed his horse at lunchtime?

send him away and get a proper craftsman in.

If you get him back everytime you redo your bathroom, it will be like a reverse tardis. It will look really big from the outside but really small inside. Strip it back.

Thanks all - i'll get it stripped back.
  • That's something I have never heard suggested before!

We tiled over existing tiles in our last bathroom. Unfortunately our new tiles of choice, combined with the adhesive and grout, rendered it virtually impossible to turn on the bath taps without damaging our knuckles. Would never take a short cut like that again!
