    (and perhaps say sorry)

You are asking for an apology, what little respect anyone had for you, will now have vanished.

    • There is a housing shortage in the UK
    • Only 40% of householders have a mortgage
    • Ergo it really makes no difference if some people can't get a mortgage 'cos there are enough people with money chasing the scarce houses that the prices go up
There isnt a housing shortage in the UK in the context you are talking about, there is a shortage of affordable homes. The whole point of a market is free flowing transactions, purchasing based on market value, there is little if no market to speak of in historical terms atm, the only reason prices are still at the point they are is because the level of transactions is so low. That has to change. A market will only work if new people enter it and others leave otherwise its like me swapping my house with yours, its meaningless.
The scarce houses you are talking about is a direct result of low transactions, in a sense you have just proven my argument.
40% is a huge amount of people.
The market is not functioning at the moment because its bottlenecked, its a denial stage, when that changes it will fall.

No, I believe that comparing a reduction in the price of a building with rape is sick. You should do as generali says and delete the post. An apology wouldn't go amiss either, though that might be a bit much to ask.

Please read my post, dont assume your understanding is the correct one.

    LOL!

What you mean is there is a shortage of houses people can afford. The concept of there being an actual shortage just makes you look a fool. Do some research before you post.

So - show me all these empty houses then?

I'd rather not re-read your nasty offensive post.

Why do you continue to compound the insult to rape victims?

If you had an ounce of decency, you would apologise for the offence you have caused and delete the entirely unnecessary and disgusting comment

Why not put 'unoccupied homes' in google.

First link states "700,000 unoccupied homes in England"

From the office of national stats -

More than two thirds of the 24.7 million households in the UK in 2004 were family households.

If you had an 'ounce of intelligence' you would be able to uncloud your mind and understand my post.

However, I have to agree with you on one point 'Ignorance is bliss'.

according to this there is a demand for homes and more need to be built
Shelter has renewed its call for more new homes, as figures released today show that the number of new house builds started in England in the last quarter was nine percent lower than the same period in 2008.

England is suffering a massive housing crisis. There simply aren’t enough decent, affordable homes.
The number of new households is increasing faster then the number of house builds, causing house prices to triple and private rents to more than double over the past decade. More than two million people find their rent or mortgage a constant struggle or are falling behind with payments.

Yes but look at the unoccupied homes. Here is a picture

You can't really really believe there are 700,000 "nice" unoccupied homes in Britain surely?
