ive heard rumours about orange being able to have the iphone in october as o2's current contract with apple runs out is it true?
i went into an o2 shop yesterday generally talking about the phone and she said they have exclusivity for 10 years! is this just spiel or does she believe wot shes been told
i doubt any company would sig for 10 years anyway but just wondering as orange hasnt confirmed yet either

I think it runs until 2012 but Apple will have a get out clause somewhere in it, I would be very surprised if they didn't.0

There was a similar rumour last year. No one at Orange knows anything about it (any at the level that would really know would be under none disclosers until it was released to the press).0

If you google the question lots of articles come out - even by The Times and Independent...
From what I was reading it looks that yes, the O2 is loosing the Iphone exclusivity, but they are going to keep the brand new Iphone 3G S (is that it what is the new one called?) exclusivity. Something like that.
And it's good they are losing it as well - in centre Europe they don't have such a stupid exclusivity deal and therefore the contract prices/lenght are not as ridiculous.
here is one as for the reason (from last year) http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/technology/article3879419.ece
and another one

But it's all just a rumours...
However, it wouldn't surprise me, because I think the first article is talking lot of sense.0 -

Orange will be able to sell the older 3G version and o2 will keep the new 3GS.
The only place you can get an apple unlocked iPhone is from Italy
It is possible to buy one on o2 PAYG and with some clever software freely available have an iPhone on orange.
I have a brand new 3GS 32GB currently running like a dream on Orange0 -
Hi
Best bet is to purchase an iphone 3g ( £340 new price )
or a iphone 3GS ( £ 440 new price )
or purchase one of the above on ebay 2nd hand
then just jailbreak & unlock your newly purchased iphone (if it already hasn't been ) & use it with the network provider you want .
Good data plans are
O2 iphone payg sim card
O2 Simplicity sim only deals choose a plan with a free data bolt on
t-mobile solo sim only deals choose a plan with free data
Also together with the above use skype with a my country plan
this will give you free unlimited UK landline calls for around £3
per month.
hope this helps
