    Seriously,
thanks for pointing this out to me girls.
I have a big issue staying hydrated at the best of times, so for now I'm going to go cold turkey on the fennel tea and perhaps try something new to get hooked on,

any recommendations (pref that I can get in a supermarket or holland and barret as that's all I have here!)

pepermint is good for settling your stomach, lemon and ginger is good for immune system and also warming you up, lavender and camomile is good for a chill out, I get a lavender and camomile one from M&S food hall for 99p a pack which is fair.

Stay away from fennel, Dandelion, Burdock, Milk Thistle, nettle (I'll try and think of more) because these have a 'detox' effect on the body which leads to excess number one and number two if I may be so crude ;)

Redbush with vanilla is nice, I'll pop a selection of teas in the post to you hun, I've got a whole cupboard full here because it's all I drink :)

    Great advice.

One of my favourite morning drinks, when I'm not on coffee, is a twig of rosemary and a slice of lemon with water. You can also have some clear honey or manuka hony in this to sweeten. Rosemary is great for bad breath and it feels clean in the morning. I like to have ''live'' tea rather than tea bags often. You can also make things like peppermint easily at home...mint grows like a weed!

As an alternative to normal teas sometimes I like Twinings voyager. Its tea, but with a hint of coconut in it, so you have it with milk (and suger or whatever) but it feels a little ...specially comforting.

I love herbal teas, I drink RedBush, Chamomile, Green Tea (wouldn't recommend for you DB), Rosehip (for my skin) and I have got an unopened Nettle and eyebright that I don't really like the sound of much but it does sound healthy lol!
I find Chamomile very relaxing but I think you might like redbush as it had that kind of medicinal twang similar the the fennel. You can drink it with or without milk and it has no caffiene in either - I got hooked when pregnant.
Sadly I'm ashamed to admit the curry I had this evening was a ready meal. I do have a recipe for my favorite which is IMO nicer:

    Parippu:

    225g red lentils
    1 onion roughly chopped
1 ripe tomato roughly chopped (I somethins use tinned if I don't have fresh)
50g creamed coconut mixed with 250ml water or 250 ml coconut milk
2 green chillis chopped (I sometimes replace with a bit of powder or flakes)
    1/4 teaspoon ground tumeric
    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
    1/2 teaspoon ground corriander
    2 tablespoons oil
    1 teaspoon cumin seeds
    1/2 teaspoon black mustard seeds
    1 onion very finely chopped
10 curry leaves ( I found these hard to track down so a friend brought back from india but we don't have any good ethinic stores locally)

Put lentils in a heavy based saucepan with 500ml water. Add roughly chopped onion, tomato, coconut, chilli, tumeric, cumin, coriander and bring to the boil. Simmer and cook stirring occasionally until the lentils are cooked to a soft mush (about 25 mins) top up with water if it dries out.

For the Tarka (seasoning) heat the oil in a small pan over a low heat. Add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, cover and allow them to pop (be really careful not to let it burn) Add the finely chopped onion and curry leaves and fry until golden brown. Pour this all into the simmering lentils. Season with salt and cook for a further 5 mins.

This reheats and freezes really well. I add some brown sugar (or since being on a diet sweetener) to give it a bit of sweetness sometimes.
  • I never knew that rosemary is good for bad breath..thank you for that :) As a smoker it's something I worry about. Does it work for garlic too for example?

Parsley is supposed to be good for garlic breath. I am going to try the rosemary and lemon in the morning since I have both in the house ATM. I'm going to have to grow some rosemary as I use it so much.

I don't have to worry about smoker breath though as I'm a sickeningly smug ex smoker!

Yes. DH is Italian, you better know I need it to be combative of garlic sometimes!

  • Hi

Hope you girls are all ok :)
Been reading the thread for the last week but haven't contributed.
Today isn't a good clothes day, I'm currently in stripey pj bottoms and a big hoodie because I am freezing!
I love the blue swirly dress and on the dress front, I have a wedding to got to in April, I'm a size 10 and deliberating over this dress from Lipsy http://www.lipsy.co.uk/store/party-dresses/grecian-drape-dress/product-is-DR02047_050

Have you tried Blackberry and Nettle tea? It's the only tea I will drink.
Have got a major Ebay listing to do tonight, Daisybella, could you pm your ebay name as I love your clothes on your blog?
