    I've been Money Tipped!
a word of caution over nil polish: I have a whole load of the stuff (in cluding a rather expensive Chane greenish grey) in storage. Really...its not a long term investment. For a colour you'll use for a couple of years I wonder if you friend might share, let you paint your nails at her place? I've never said no to a friend, and I've NEVER finished a bottle of nail polish.

If the trunk were easier to get to I'd send you my Chanel one PF.....why not wait til the end of your no spend month then buy it if you feel the same? :)

Lost, I've never had an issue with nail polish not keeping? I've got an o.p.i. one from er...well, it was my Mum's about ten years ago! And it still works wonderfully!
Some of my cheaper ones have given up though!

I can't believe how chatty it is today!
I will catch up on the day's gossip after dinner, here is the evidence of my splurge and dressing up session.

This top/dress was £5. I love the combination of nautical and floral, plus red is fast becoming my favourite colour. The shoes were sainsburys sale £3 and the red top £2.50 was also bought today to add to my collection of Primark long sleeved tops. I just HAD to have the hummingbird necklace at only £1.50 it may give me a green neck sooner rather than later but I couldn't resist!

The second dress again on the nautical theme was a nightie I spotted on the rejected rail in the changing room, I'm not sure about the length, I might (get Mum to) take it up a bit and a bargain at £3.50.

This is a strapless dress (£5) that will only be worn that way on holiday, I really don't like going without a bra, less still when Dylan is constantly trying to access my boobs in public! I have layered it over another new top, this time orange. Not sure if the layering works that well. I know DB and GG are good at this kind of thing so am hoping for some inspiration! The shoes are gladiators £4 - I hated this style until really recently mainly because I'm short and they make legs look a bit dumpy sometimes but with jeggings I think they are OK.

Finally - I spotted these Carvela shoes in TK Maxx today were £80 reduced to £16, I might wear them on Saturday (THE party) as the Yummi dress I posted last week has hot pink horses on it and not red as it appeared. If I do or not depends on if I can walk in them by then lol!

I love all my new purchases and it has really lifted my mood.
Wow, what a long post - Just got carried away with my excitement!!

I've had a few, but not many. Miss selfridge used to do lovely ones about ...15 years ago? They didn't last though. No, the issue is not that they don't last but that wat you wear changes. e.g. I used to paint my nails like humbugs a lot, I never do do now! Nails change a lot with fashion, more than I realised a few years ago....some classics...reds,....and some I'll personally always wear, a blue I love, and golds. Not just because of fashion but life: the young woman I was when buying nail varnish a few years ago never thought I'd be going to corporate wife events...having to wonder how her nail polish choice might reflect on her husband
I do sometimes struggle to remember on this thread tht we are on a money saving site, and it would be worth considering this sort of little expenditure.

after consideration, nothing to say you can't buy!;)

Vicki- amazing buys, you look great!

Lost- ohhh gosh, yes I totally forget sometimes this is MSE, it's kind of hard to explain my situation lol, as I dont have debt or out goings as such, just a very limited income so any treats are weighed up and justified before buying,

but I am VERY prone to impulse buys when I'm out of control in other areas of my life, like right now,

(and on that note, if I mention spending any more money, STOP ME)

I don't need any more stuff.

    daisy - StOp SpEnDiNg! :P

lost, i think you're right (good, sensible influence!), will wait and see how i feel at the end of the month, and if i want grey nails before then, i'll ask her to share!

and well done on the bargains, vicki, really love the necklace and the floral/nautical dress! it all looks great and you have a "this season" wardrobe for very little money - very MSE!

right, i'm off home for tea and sewing..
  • as inspired by you lovely ladies I have set myself up a blog
