I like that knitted dress from republic. Have you checked new look lately? I know I'm a bit shorter than you but I generally find their length slightly more generous than most!
Boots wise, you can pretty much do any length with dresses. Office have a killer sale on right now though0 -

I guess if I can find something that's a few inches above the knee (rather than just skimming over my bum!) it'd be alright. I need some longgg boots though - the only boots I have are calf length fake Uggs which probably wouldn't look good with a dress?!
I'd like something like this - http://www.fashionunion.co.uk/p/LKN5141/Guardia-Knit-Dress.html
or maybe this - http://www.republic.co.uk/Knitwear/Soul-Cal-Knitted-Dress/invt/86292
I'm not really very girly so anything pink and fluffy is out of the question!
Im 5 foot 8 but I am a size 16, desperately trying to be a size 12 lolBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
I have to say, for longish boots, I like properly long, under my knee, not calf length. I'm quite.....traditionalist about somethings, and well fitting boots (as well as the hard to find really nicely designed boots) are hard to find. I have so many cringe moments over boots its silly The trick is though, to get the length that best flatters your leg IMO.
Grrr, must resist the office sale....must resist.....I really am only ater some flats ATM I think....0 -
I'm on a flats hunt too but my feet are stupid.
My current favourite boots are my over knee ones, though they really just sit on my knee because of long legs haha.0 -

It's difficult to find any boots at all, never mind nicely designed boots.
I think that's why I dread shopping so much - because it's not as if I can walk into Office or Schuh or whenever and just pick the style I like. I am limited to Evans basically.
Does anyone know what Office's sizing is like? I see they have some flat boots in a size 9, but they'd have to be generous fitting.
You know what, I'd stick to just a couple of pairs of boots, but have them made to fit me properly. IMO, you'd get more wear and better value from boots you can trust for years to come, than less than great almost right boots. And, er, yeah, I have had boots made for me before. The best boots ever though, are not mine, but my sister's: she had them made abut 15 years ago in spain and they still look fantastic and have gone through rend after treand (tan, flats to the knee). I which I'd got some too0 -
CompletelyLost wrote: »Yep, tall ranges are really only good for jeans & trousers. Ahhh I remember being a 6ft 12-yr-old and never being able to get trousers long enough (35inch leg), so I guess things *have* improved a lot, but still there's very little choice!
I actually find I'm somewhere between the 'long' lengths in the normal range, and the 'Tall' range itself - very annoying indeed! I find Office shoes quite generous, have a couple of pairs in a 7 where I'm normally an 8.CompletelyLost wrote: »Actually I really am craving a spending spree right now - I blame this thread
And me
Loving the shoes PF, I only have one pair of Irregular Choice and couldn't see them among your collection surprisingly, they're the blue ones with the white Japanese lucky cats all over them, love them but can't walk in them very well!
ETA GrammarGirl - I get the error message at work on IE but not at home on Firefox...Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I'm in a spending mood tonight too, made worse by knowing I have both Christmas money and some of my own money.
I really need a pair of jeans that fit me, but clothes sizes vary so wildly I never know where to start!0 -
CompletelyLost wrote: »That's something I've thought about but wouldn't know where to go to have them made? I would love a plain flat pair of dark brown leather or suede boots. I know I'd wear them to death (like I do with all of my shoes) so I'd happily pay the price.
I can't remember where my sister got hers from. I've asked before and she's been cagey, but I'll try again. Otherwise, perhaps worth a google? Flat brown boots might be worth looking in spain/portugal, as plain, as well as more ''fancy'', riding boots in the traditional styles are often made to fit properly.0 -

There's a shop in Bath that does gorgeous boots in special calf widths - I wonder if they also make them larger than a size 8? They're bound to have a website but for the life of me I can't remember what the place is called. Does anyone know?
EDIT - Duo! Website here - looks as if they go up to a size 10.
I've never owned a pair of knee high/calf high bootsI am starting to seriously want some now though!
Oh and for anyone wondering about the IC heels, I'm a standard size 6 shoe everywhere but in IC heels. They must come up small cos only the size 7's fit me. So they might not be too big for you...
Daisy - you lucky duck! I have zip money left. Ah the joys of car insurance & breakdown (£700!!) and my mum's 60th birthday all falling in the same month :rolleyes:0
