Just give me my darn PAC code 3!!!!
:oHas anyone come across this one & can they do it???
I want to cancel my contract and may want to liven it up at a later date (got a work mobile but not sure if one day they'll start charging me big money for it!!!)
3 have offered to either:
a) cancel the phone with 30 days notice, or
b) give me my PAC code and if I don't use it within 30 days they refuse to cancel the contract - my contract will only be cancelled from the day I use the code (so I can't use it in 29 days so contracts don't overlap and have to pay 1 month to 2 suppliers).
Cheeky or normal?
At least I THINK that's what he said - it was pretty hard to understand.

Normal with any network from my experience. If you dont want the number do (a).
All you have to do is ask for PAC code 30 days prior to end of contract and give them notice at same time - end of story.
Come to end of your contract use the PAC code before 30 days are up. Simple.0 -
I think another call to clarify things would help you a lot.
For what you want to do (essentially suspend that line for some time) I think the best approach is to port the number to a PAYG line and then bring it back when you feel like using it as a contract line again.0 -
Fiish, I think you have a plan!!!! that gives me the SIM. Do I still need to rent a line if I do PAYG or no need? Probably an obvious answer but only came to UK last year after 14 years away and still unsure of how UK works!0

If you get a PAYG you probably have to top up to activate it. (usually £10 will do) Once activated you need to make a chargable call or text every 6 months to keep the line alive. The top up doesn't expire usually (as far as I know, someone correct me if I'm wrong on this).
3 do PAYG with free Skype calls forever that doesn't seem to expire or require topup to activate (I am using a Skypephone with zero balance currently, purely for Skype calls). I am not sure how easy it is to port a 3 contract to PAYG though.0
