New "Latest MSE News' Box

Options
As part of our ongoing "spruce up the forum" work - we've replaced the ticker with a news box on the right hand side. Hope you like it. It should update regularly - do let us know what you think and if there are any technical glitches.

The plan is to continue work down the boxes on the right (using exactly the space there now) to make them easier to read and mroe attractive on the eye.

The news box is a mess, the pictures dont line up properly with the text and the text continues outside the box by at least 4 lines clashing with the next section down.

On the plus side, I am glad to see the back of the ticker.

It looks good to me now. I remember we were told about the ticker but I never noticed it. (BTW I wear glasses:p) I do like this idea because I virtually never go to the main site, unless directed there by some interesting link in the newsletter, or to re-read old newsletters, so I, for one, would never see news features like these. I suspect it's the same for a lot of forumites.

The 'Latest MSE News' box is pin sharp, bright, colourful and eye catching for me.

I think the use of pictures/photographs is a great idea............they really stand out amongst all the words in the right margin.

I think this must be a browser compatability issue as I don't see any of the problems that you do (I have firefox 3.5.2).

What browser and version number do you have. If you have ie8 - how does it look in compatability view ?

Using XP, screen size is 1024 by 768 on an Acer AL1916W monitor.

Even before this thing with the news box the deals of the week box has always looked to be too small for the contents with the bottom line actually appearing on the edge of the blue border rather than within it.

It's a mess for me. I'm internet explorer 6. On full screen it looks like the following, including the odd lines which you can see when you click on the attachment:
