pc wont boot up even in safe mode

    ive just got into the system recovery,but it says i will lose all my files - does this include my e mails (ntl)

    Very much doubt you will lose your emails (as they usually reside on the server side of things, depending on pop3/imap settings). Strange that it is saying you will lose all your files.

    it says system recovery, all files and data files will be lost and it will go back to factory shipped files :confused:

    ^^Ah, ok, that does make sense. Very often though, there is an XP Recovery Console option in which XP is reinstalled but your documents ('My Documents' etc.) are not deleted.

    Hi All,

    I had something vaguley similar to that here.

    PC got to XP loading screen then just stopped everytime - Safe Mode got half loaded too then stopped.

    I got the HDD out, backed up everything again onto my other PC (just in case!) then ran ChkDisk on the drive, this did find and cure a few errors. The USB - SATA/IDE cable I used for that has been very useful for backing up data over time!

    I put the disk back in the PC and all was well, so that might be worth a go!
