I think metronet recently were taken over by plusnet?

There are a few issues with plusnet at the moment, but I've found the services have basically been sound, as long as you're not a big P2Per.

If you have specific issues with elements of the service I find it's best to talk to them directly via their comms team, rather than raise tickets.

A lot of us who left Metronet went to newnet as it was/is a no frills, well priced fast ISP. Been happy since November. £6.00 upgrade to max.adsl from 2meg. and am getting 2.5-4.5meg and I'm way out in the sticks. Don't expect unlimited downloads or e-mail though
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

If you want support and can't get hold of anyone you can always post the problem on the plusnet forum on https://www.adslguide.org They attend to matters posted on there pretty quickly (usually!), and despite the maxdsl/llu noise at the moment there is a lot of self-help that goes on too.

I know quite a lot about their systems and people's email addresses to address queries too if you still have problems.

Get a modem as a standby fro when DSL fails. You automatically get a payg dial-up account with every broadband account. Details in the portal under "connection details".

did not even thing of that.thankyou
  • Can you log into your account from a friends computer, if so raise a query.

Or as already mentioned vist adslguide - metronet forum post a question and hope that James Bailey responds - he is very good and it will short circuit alot of faff. Once ask for a mac code and get out quick...

They are supposed to have a 24/7 support phoneline - have you tried at silly times of the day?
