please help

hope someone can help me, last night my OH's mate came round to give my computer a cleanup, he said he knew what he was doing, but i haven't got a clue what he was doing and now i cant access the internet or get into my norton security and the start up bar at the bottom has lost its colour, its just a white colour, he installed some spyware programmes, should i uninstall them again, i'm gutted as he left me to do it and i haven't got a clue what to do next
please help me

  • If you know which programs were installed, then remove them. Once they are removed restart the machine and see if it looks better to you.
    Check the antivirus software is running before trying the internet. (Just in case.)

    no its still the same, i've removed error repair pro, and wrwr something but there is still a wrar362 on my desktop and i cant find it on the applications to uninstall it, i can only delete it, shall i delete it, it's driving me mad

  • Sounds like that is just the install file for one of the programs. It should be safe to delete.
    Does everything work in Windows despite the task bar being white and Norton not starting?

    If you go into add/remove programmes it should populate a list of software that is installed on the computer, and a date when it was installed and last used, this may help you track down what was installed and allow you to remove it safely rather than just randomly deleting things.

    sorry im not sure what you mean when you say about windows working, ive just tried to sign in windows live messenger and it wouldnt sign in it says ip address invalid, sorry to sound thick but ive no idea what im doing

    Sounds like your OH's mate was thick to leave your computer in that mess, I would get him/her back to sort it.

    I'd suggest following the above advice on a system restore. See the link for a guide...
