I do hope that she gave you her postal address whenyou were in the house as it is illegl for a landlord to fail to provide a Uk address to a tenant which they can use to contact LL.brokeinwales wrote: »I'm not sure about my "accidental overpayment" either - the law seems less clear on that - could she just keep it?
No.
E-mail her and ask
1. What is her postal address, as required by law.
2. Which scheme is your deposit protected by.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Why not ask your friend for some help writing a letter to the landlady and/or sorting out your finances?0

Yes - I used to do that as well, but for some reason I don't seem to get the free texts any more. I thought they'd stopped doing it.E-mail her and ask

Well. As yet no response at all from landlady - have been reading up a bit about the law on this kind of thing. A lot of it may as well be in Japanese for all I understand, but I get that I need to ask her about the deposit scheme. Do I write direct to the landlady threatening court action then? She can't just keep the money that is effective stealing. In Scotland you would rely on the law of unjustified enrichment not sure if it is called the same thing in England but it is the same as if a bank put lots of money into your account by knowing the money was not yours and spending it the bank would have the right to make you pay it back.
As for the phone credit, Fanta, Sprite and Dr Pepper are doing a deal giving you 50p credit for the codes on the cans maybe someone would be kind enough to PM you one if they have one spare or if you see any lying about on the street etc.Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

my dear, dont spend all that shrapnel at once on basics food and things like noodles from experience, dont fill you up long enough, don't give you the correct nutrition and may lead to a cold (which could lead to some days off sick which is never good)
im in pretty much the same situation before paydays, and i get myself down to the super makret at gypo hour (as my boyfriend calls it, not to offend others) its bassically the 1hr-45 mins before the super market closes each night and the stuff goes really really cheap. asda is amazing and also suprisingly waitrose (as alot of the day old stuff goes for 10p) there are regulars who fight for stuff and sometimes there are even arguements over certain foods amoungst bargain hunters but it is honestly the best way to not simply eat beans for a fortnight. best idea is to get there an hour before closing time and have a flick through the magazine isle, then roots for some bargains. i know people know follow the poor bloke with the pricing gun around the shop (bless him) but its a long term way of getting very cheap food. and remember if you dont eat it freeze it! its the best way to get a varied diet. :money:
also if you have any mates who work at marks an spencers they have staff wastage sales on tuesday evenings where all the food is ridiculously cheap were are talking 5p m&s sanwiches which are lovely! so if you do, ask em nicely!0 -
hehehehehe hope you like the parcel...I enjoyed sending itGo hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0

Not on the multi packs unfortunately- I bought a Fanta and Dr Pepper today but just checked them..
Tried to send you a PM but your mailbox is full.....Debt-free...and staying that way...0 -
I've put your parcel together but didn't get to the post office in time, figured that it'd doo for next week anyway then you get a steady stream of packs. Can't wait to go to the post office, I have 3 jiffy bags going to the same address all containing the same thing and yours too. I've just thrown stuff in that we won't use, I can't believe how much there is! We seem to have acquired things that will never get used (lattes' anyone??)
Re the credit, can you get a free sim card from anywhere as they come with free credit mostly? I think Orange are giving them away and O2 were too.0
