I thought of taking some olive oil, and dropping some chillis in the bottle, then leave for a few weeks in a dark cupboard for the flavours to infuse. I do this with garlic as well. Much cheaper than buying the ready flavoured oils and much tastier as you have done it yourself!!!
Good luck!!!LBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:

You need to be careful of botulism so shouldn't make chilli oil like that... I think you have to dry the chillis first.... ask in Old Style, they'll be able to tell you.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -

Give some away.
You can do a swap with someone else who has too much of something.
Unfortunately this can back fire..............I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Thank you oliveoyl, I never thought of that. I would dry them first but hadnt thought of the botulism. OOps,
But drying them is easy. I did it with a load of sage leaves today. I waited till the dinner was cooked. Switched the oven off and put a tray of freshly washed sage leaves in the oven and left them there! Came back a few hours later to a cool oven and some lovely dried herbs! saved money as I don't now need to buy a dehydrator!!!LBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:

How about some chili ice cream?? I tried some once and it was just the best!
I've been growing one plant in the greenhouse and it's also doing very well. Might be a daft question but how do you know when they are ripe please?0 -

I posted a recipe for this on the glut recipes thread - it is good, but uses far more toms than chillies - worth making though!

Hi, I'm a chilliholic:eek: especially when in a stir fry with fresh ginger and garlic. Hot hot hot!I've got 5 Thai Dragon chilli plants. Apparantly the chillies are 6 times hotter than Jalapenos! Last night I did a count on one of the plants and there were 30 chillies with at least 50 flowers so 80 chillies. Multiply that by 5 and i'll have about 400 very hot chillies! So, question is, what can I do with them?
I've googled a bit and I can dry them, freeze them or pickle them. Make sweet chilli sauce or lots of other hot sauces. Any suggestions though from other chilli growers?
You've had a lot of suggestions here already.
One extra one is if you dry them don't forget to save some seeds for sowing next year.:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing0
