What to do with hundred of Chillies..
I've got 5 Thai Dragon chilli plants. Apparantly the chillies are 6 times hotter than Jalapenos! Last night I did a count on one of the plants and there were 30 chillies with at least 50 flowers so 80 chillies. Multiply that by 5 and i'll have about 400 very hot chillies! So, question is, what can I do with them?
I've googled a bit and I can dry them, freeze them or pickle them. Make sweet chilli sauce or lots of other hot sauces. Any suggestions though from other chilli growers?

First thing you can do is pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
How about your own chilli powder?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Hi I watched a programme last week I think it was about economical eating and the person was told to grow a chilli plant that would produce 100 chillies they were told to simply freeze them and they would last a year doing this. I am buying one on the next visit to gareden centre as I love chillies. ShrewdalxI've got 5 Thai Dragon chilli plants. Apparantly the chillies are 6 times hotter than Jalapenos! Thanks. It's a shame my tomatoes haven't done as well!
Chilli powder would be good as it doesn't require much storage space. 500 chillies sitting in the freezer would be quite bulky!0 -
sauces or chilli oil would make good and bargin christmas gifts for your food loving friends, twins on board0

I freeze some, -they keep very well in a plastic bag in the freezer, I make hot pepper sauce, and pickle some jalapenos for use on pizzas etc!0

Don't forget though, you haven't actually got 500 hundred ripe chillies sitting in your hot little hands yet

I freeze mine too, works superbly well.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
chilli relish.
chillies, garlic, ginger, lime/lemon juice and sugar. chop up chillies, some garlic, some ginger, stuff in jar. make a lime/lemon juice mix with sugar. pour over chopped chillies.
eat with everything!

Ah, chilli green tomato chutney!
If you are picking that many tomatoes then you'd do very well with chillies.
The lack of sun and the cooler scottish climate hasn't helped my tomatoes. My best tomatoes were in the hot summer of 2006 when grown outdoors. Since getting a greenhouse they've done badly thanks to the cooler summers.0 -
and chilli sherry or chilli vodka.
one for cooking and one for drinking. a good chilli vodka makes a mean long island iced tea.0 -
I got a raly good tip for chillis. Wear gloves when you are preparing them.......:D
And whatever you do, DON'T touch anything.....
And I mean anything........
I have heard that rubbing olive oil into your hands before preparing chillis can help.
Oh and I made chilli sauce with mine last year and put it in Worcester Sauce bottles. It takes an awful lot of tomatoes to make one of those little bottle up, about 2-2.5kg.............To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0
