I'm tempted by this one, but the shelf price in the tesco Extra in Leeds (Seacroft) today was £68.84 or something like that. Does anyone know if it will scan at £59.99 or is it a regional offer??0

From my limited knowledge of Spanish it appears that they are saying that the firmware should only be applied to certain model numbers - none of which appear to relate to the Technika. I did think about trying one of those web translation sites, but the results obtained from those are usually hilarious rather than useful!
I'm very tempted though..........
It didn't work on my Technika. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Bought one the week before xmas for £78, took it back the week after and got my money back. There were at least 5 other faulty ones behind the electrical dept counter.0

Between myself and a colleague, we bought 3 of these and all of them went back because they stopped reading any discs. Absolute rubish...at any price!0

No personal experience but from the My Yamada forum people have been posting success i.e.
"I have flashed my technika with the blu:sens firmware and all appeared fine. The access of avi files from the usb port worked as expected."
So *probably* okay - YMMV etc.

In a word - No!
You have to bash in the start / end times manually, but with the Blu:Sens firmware it does have PDC to help get the start/end times right. Personally I use it to record off my Freeview box so no experience of how well the PDC works!

After the firmware upgrade does yours play xvids ok?
I bought two at xmas and both had problems with 80% of the xvids i tried, so I backed them.
I don't think the firmware upgrade makes a significant difference to Xvid or Divx compatability. I've had the odd Xvid choke during playback but on the whole it's played 90% of the downloaded stuff I've thrown at it. Might of course just be luck in terms of the types of things I download. Stuff that doesn't work, also chokes in my other Divx player (a Mustek portable). If all else fails you can use pocketdivxencoder or similar to make it in to something a little more compatable.

I can record stuff then put it on my sony ericcson k750 mobile 1gb memory stick and watch anywhere without running it through a codec on a laptop......that is a cool feature!
I think you may have misunderstood. It doesn't allow you to record TO Sony memorysticks. Just play back Divxs or Xvids that are stored on a USB Mass Storage Device (i.e. a flash drive).
It also doesn't record as mpeg4, so if you wanted to watch stuff on your K750, you'd need to encode the DVD+RW via a laptop (which isn't the easiest due to the DVD+VR format it records in).

............ah right!.....thought it was too good to be true!
But I'm sure its only a matter of time befre this feature is included into dvd recorder's.............you would be able to watch stuff on mobiles and PSP's without running through a laptop then.
The flashtrax xt from staples mentioned elsewhere does this already, records direct from a source (DVD TV SAT etc) int mpeg then it will tranfer file to a memory card for whatever portable device you wnat to watch it on, PSP, dvd or mobile.0
