Advice on contraception please!

The best form of contraception is to not shave your legs (or anywhere else for that matter) eat lots of garlic and move to a cave...works wonders...(apparently)If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Have you considered the Implant? lasts 3 years (though can cause continous bleeding..)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Those of you that are on 'A' pill and you smoke etc, will be on the progesterone only pill (POP) or mini pill as its sometimes referred to. You wouldnt be on on the combined pill. If you are then you need to seek medical advice.
That's not strictly true. I'm on the combined pill and i smoke. Albeit not a lot but i'm still allowed on it (i have wonderful blood pressure...)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The worry is not just about smoking, the combined pill and blood pressure, its about the other risk factors as well.0 -
I had the mirena coil fitted nearly 2 years ago and it is great. Sometimes my periods are a little bit heavy but not to bad. It is non hormonal.
I used to have the depovera injection (sp) a few years ago. I gained 2 stones, whilst dieting, and had NO sex drive at all.
Did you know that depovera is given to !!!!!philes to suppress their sexual appetite for children? It really does affect your sex drive.0 -

Mirena IS hormonal, it contains progesterone, can cause irregular bleeding, lighter periods etc.
I think you're confusing the Mirena with the Copper coil, which is NON-Hormonal and this can cause heavier bleeds.0 -
Ive got one!
I cant use any hormone based contraception, and I can honestly say that the copper coil has changed my life. It was horrible having it fitted, dont get me wrong, but it can be left in for up to 10 years. Seriously, its amazing. And ive had NO side effects whatsoever at all....
Hello, is it really that good! I have been reading so many different things about it all, but maybe I was reading about the hormonal one. Is it comfortable after the initial discomfort?
I am going to speak to my Dr about this one I think. Hormones are ruining my body and this seems like a sensible option.Wins for 2013: Cafetiere (£40), Mangajo Drinks, Alan Partridge goodies0 -

I had considered this option yes, but I dont think think its the one for me. My sister suffered alot with it and had hers removed. Out of the two I would rather stay on the injection than the implant, but I dont want to do that either.
