Broken Yellow Lines

I live in scotland, And i have been given a ticket for parking on a broken Yellow Line, I had noticed alot of people do this on a daily basis so i thought it was ok as i had been told as it was broken i could not be given a ticket. It is broken by at least a car length this was due to road works, they have failed to re paint the road.

Can anyone tell me if i have a chance of appeal, and should pay the fine while i appeal?

Thanks

you will probably be able to get off on a techinicality, but you knew you shouldnt be parking there and if you had not, you wouldnt of had any of these problems

We have the same thing in Devon Place in edinburgh and I was given a ticket, but it was cancelled when I appealled it. Everyone parks there now (whenever its available) and no one gets a ticket. Just appeal it. xx

You decide whether to pay or continue the appeal process.
  • Were you entirely within the area where the yellow lines were missing? If you were even slightly over them even by a bumper width you might not be successful. Remember they probably photographed the car when they ticketed it.

It sounds like you've already gone outside the time limit where it would be discounted for prompt payment so you might as well carry on with the appeal and ask for the photographic evidence they have.
