Please help my boiler won't light

Help. I have a Optima 701 combi boiler (ferroli) and i can't get the pilot light to stay alight. Has anyone please got any suggestions as to what maybe wrong. I recently took off a radiator in my hallway and that made the pressure in the system drop - i re-pressurised the system and it worked for a few weeks after that but now keeps going out. At the moment the pilot light will light but won't stay lit when i relase the button - any suggestions would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance

You might do better posting this on the In my home board - I think that's where the handymen and women hang out! We did this have this problem once but it was so long ago that I can't remember what bit it was needed replacing ... it was fairly straightforward as far as I recall, but a back boiler so possibly different?

I had the same problem. It turned out to be (do not know if i am spelling this right)
a part called the THERMO CUPLING? It is a long piece of metal that is easy to replace. Not too expensive either. Your local plumbers merchant can order one for you, just give them the make/model number of boiler. Worth a try?

i had a similar problem last autum went away for a week came home boiler wouldnt light.. came on here like you to ask for advice, the thermo coupling thingy my boiler doesnt have so wasnt that.. in the end i called out the plumber who services my boiler as it was due anyway and thats what it was it had got dusty inside and just needed a service. so if your boiler is due its annual service get that done might just be its needs a clean.

  • Have you pressed the reset button before trying to light the pilot light? Obvious i know, but its sometimes the obvious things that are overlooked!!
