What should I do? I won a really nice top for just 99p, was listed as machine washable, but it is dry clean only, and although it is in really nice condition, it stinks and needs a wash!
I never buy dry clean stuff as its expensive to clean and to be honest, I can never be arsed.
Should I open a dispute or something? I'm not sure.

Just gently hand wash it. Even it it ruins it you must have worn it a good few times for it to stink. So you've had more that your 99ps worth.
When youve washed it and rinsed it just lie it on a towel on the drainer and pull into shape. The chances are it will be fine.
All my jackets for work are dry clean, it usd to cost me a fortune till i washed just one of them and it came out fine so i wahs all of them now.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I got the impression it had arrived stinking, not that the OP has already worn it...0 -

yep, it arrived stinky :rolleyes:0 -
Drop the seller an email, politely pointing out that the auction stated machine washable yet the garment says dry clean only and really smells. They might refund the 99p...
If they don't reply or do anything, then perhaps leave a neutral stating the facts.
I'd also try hand washing it, then laying it flat to dry.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

My apologies, I dont know why i automatically thought that you had worn it. oops. When in a hole - stop digging. Sorry
In which case, i totally agree with Pinkshoes.
I can hardly believe that someone would send an item of clothing in that condition. - maybe they are more to be pitied than laughed at eh. :rolleyes:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Well quite, I guess the seller didn't fancy shelling out for the dry cleaning.
I also would have a go at hand washing it, as long as the water is nice and cool and you're gentle with it then it should be fine.0 -

Its actually in really nice condition! (just smells bit cigarettey and musty) so yeah, I think seller can't be arsed with dry cleaning. I'm always in 2 minds with things like this, cos 1, its clearly not as described, but 2, I won it for 99p!
I just never know what to do. I've never attempted to wash anything thats dry clean, I might have a go.0 -
I washed my dry clean only wedding dress and it was fine :eek:TRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0

I've washed a few dry clean only things by accident and they've all been fine. If you're not too fussed about the top I would give it a go! Otherwise handwash should be adequate.:j30/7/10:j

Whats the item made from ? I have shrunk a couple of silk things that were dry clean only so don't reccomend for silk on more than lukewarm water handwashing. I have also handwashed lots of items that were dry clean only successfully.0
