The UK Car Boot Sale List

I've noticed that there is regularly a good few people wanting to know where their nearest Car Boot Sale is (myself included!) so I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread listing them :) The idea is to list boot sales near you, their days and times, so we can build up handy guide to local sales!

for ones near me:

Wakefield Market, West Yorkshire
Sundays - dealers start settng up anything from 3m onwards, but it really hots up around 6am - 8am. Council run so usually a good mix of stalls, no knock off DVDs/CDs!

Nostell Car Boot, near Wakefield Independant School, West Yorkshire
Wednesdays - This is off the beaten track a bit, and is in a field halfway up the road from Wakefield Independant School to the next village. Usually hots up around 7/8am, and good for bargains both from public and dealers :)

Cross Green Market, Leeds, West Yorkshire
Sundays - they let the public in at 6am, and be prepared for a queue at the gates either on foot or by car! Usually a good mix of joe public and dealers, but also a huge number of pirate DVD stalls.

York Racecourse, York, North Yorkshire
Saturdays. Officially from 7am onwards, but be wary of race meet weekends when of course it's cancelled! usually a pretty big place but a LOT of dealers come to this one to buy, so be warty of competition for some of the more valuable bargains!

A few of the car boot sales in the Cheshire/Wirral area:

    -Countess of Chester Hospital, Chester

    -Tranmere Rovers FC, Birkenhead

-West Kirby FC, West Kirby, Wirral

    -Moreton Shore

By the way, can anyone tell me why the majority of car boot sales start so early? I have never understood why so many start in the early hours of the morning, yet whenever I go to a boot sale as a buyer, I get there for about 8am. Surely an early start just allows for dealers to buy all your stuff and sell it on their stalls?
