What Are Your Goals W/C 23.4.06

Options
Again apologies if a duplicate thread but couldn't see it. Have I got the week commencing date right btw? Starts today?

Anyway here is the link to last weeks thread:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=184046

My goals were:

1. Only spend on some stamps and bus fare if I have to (trying to arrange lifts again) and a few fresh veggies on Wednesday. No other money allowed apart from that! Failed. enough said!
2. No tumble dryer use this week (caught up on washing today so shouldn't have to) Success!
3. List a book on Amazon. Yep. Not sold yet though but give it time.
4. Have a mini wardrobe tidy/arrange to see if there is anything that could go on EBAY. I did have a look but nothing came out to go on EBAY.
5. Do some exercise!! Did some walking at lunchtime on the days it wasn't raining and a little bit of evening exercise but it wasn't really that good. Could have done better but I guess better than nowt!

This weeks goals are

1. Only spend money midweek on fresh veggies needed and prescription needed.
2. Try & get lifts to & from work all week or at least till PayDay (Thursday).
3. Am going out Saturday for a friend's 40th birthday meal. Budget £25 includes £15 for food and getting there/back/drinks. Tough budget. Maybe I will drive.
4. Get some exercise!!!

Good luck everyone.

    Last week:

*keep the spending diary going - nope...
*collect another 2 x £2 coins to take my total to £158... done that!
*get the car MOTeeeeeed! - not done.... have until next week
*spring clean my bedroom on Monday - did some, until I ndeveloped a nasty cough which I suspect was from the dirt/ dust!!!*get rid of the box of junk in the utility room (dump I think!) - still there and the box is growing!!!
*deal with any letters as and when regarding reclaiming bank charges - have done, am well on my way!

So for this week (and easy ones cos I am feeling yuck):

    *Get car MOTeeeeeeeeeeeeeed
*Reply to any letters re: bank charges etc
*Dump the stuff sitting in the utility room, no use to me...
*Obtain the storage boxes for my room and put them together, ready for more spring cleaning!
*Collect another £2 to take my total to £174
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

    Great idea, Looking ahead!

I have never done it before, so I will be gentle on myself.

    1. follow my study plan (professional exams in June)

    2. walk to and from the train station every day

    3. make my own lunch every day

    4. oh, and of course, no biscuits, no choc bars, and no crisps, and pretzels for the whole week

Who knows, maybe points 2, 3, and 4 will make me loose some weight?

:T Good luck every one! :T

Think this is my first time joining in.

    My goals this week:

    1. Send off ID docs for remortgage that if we're accepted for will save us £2,000 over the next 2 years.

    2. Not buy lunches/snacks at work, take all my own food in.

    3. Plant more veg seeds in pots to save us money in the summer when we harvest the crops.

    4. Put up promotional posters for my p/t business to hopefully bring in more customers.

Have a lovely, successful week all of you.

  • Hi LookingAhead - thanks for starting this...

    Good luck everyone!

    My goals for LAST week:-

*Continue tidying and cleaning house (today) - Yes - this is a huge achievement for me, normally I get halfway round and give up/get bored! I'm trying really hard to be more house proud and not so lazy...
*5 no spend days (apart from bus fare budgeted for) - No - I think I had 2. I'm ashamed of myself. I'm not doing very well on the not spending recently
*Send off Smile bumpf (as above) - No - again, I'm going to have to get on with this in case RBS close my acc.
*Cancel Mint card - No - not done yet
*Pay £7.31 into bank early in the week so don't go over overdraft when mobile bill comes out on Wednesday - Yes!
*Babysitting flyers - design and print and go round to local shops with next weekend - No - this must be about the 19th week (or so :rotfl: !) I haven't done this - shocking
*List more personal junk on eBay - Yes - listed 6 things, 2 already sold and 2 have bids - listing more tonight
*List more business stock/ideas on eBay - No
*get started on current eBay orders - Yes
*Research exercise options locally - No

Just an observation, but I think I am setting myself too many goals each week. I work full time and commute over 3 hours a day as well as doing my eBay business stuff, running a home and having a life. So I am now going to restrict myself to 5/6 goals a week. This is because, if I write them on here, then don't achieve them, I feel such a failure...

    My goals for THIS week:-

*Send off Smile stuff to continue opening current account
*Complete 1 x big eBay order
*Research small claims stuff in Scotland and submit claim (if can get to court)
    *Cancel Mint card
    *4 no spend days
*List 20 x things on eBay or turbolister (tonight, hopefully)

    scottishspendaholic x
    MBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
    Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
    Bank of Scotland = £2,782.83

Call water company, pay off outstanding amountDone and Done
Should hear back about BT to I.F 0% CCBeen accepted.Have sent back signed credit agreement.Waiting for card!
Do another budget plan for MayThats my plan for my sunday evening
Get together some more OS recipesFailed that one
Fight Night saturday.OH paying for ticket £20! Steer clear of bar!Didnt go in the end!

We'll see how this one goes
Budget for week measly £5!!!!Failed miserably.Have ended up spending money on my credit card.

So I'm quite disappointed with myself for spending money when I really shouldn't have.Really not helped with the credit card situation. However have planned to pay off exactly what I've spent on pay day.Plus the monthly DD for it.

So far this week I've sent off another set of letters to Abbey to cancel the PPI on both my loan and credit card.Still waiting for a half decent response.

It's pay day this week so my plan is to not spend a penny
    A PENNY! till then.
I've got to phone Seeboard and tell them I'll pay my bill on payday. Theyre sending me evil letters already!
Lunch to work each day (will have to, only have £3 in my bank account)
Day off on wednesday will be spent tidying up the house, cleaning etc, anything that keeps me well inside the confines of my house and away from spending money. :T

So no big push really. My bigger challenge will come just after friday, want to last for as long as I can with only paying my bills, and not actually spending cash on cr*p.See how long I can last out with that one! :rotfl:

    :confused::confused::confused:

Oh no no fannyadams, the addiction is an essential part! :rotfl:

My goals for last week were:

Use vouchers if I feel the need to shop. Yep, got some nice pyjamas (la senza), 2 cds, a dvd and a book for a grand total of £8.77 (making up the differences) :j They're things I've resisted buying for ages until I had vouchers to treat myself :D :A

Don't buy anything on ebay. Yep, nothing bought :j

Make lunch at home instead of going into town. Yep, lunch at home every day apart from my weekly friday treat :j

Start sorting room. Add as much as possible to turbolister (about 20 items already there) and list all on tuesday, 15p day Didn't manage to sort my room but listed the 20 things already in turbolister so not too bad.

Ok, so some goals for the week coming:

Make lunch at home every day apart from friday treat (as usual).

Tidy and sort my room - dispose of unwanted stuff in appropriate way (bin, charity shop, freecycle, ebay).

Spend more vouchers when shopping (still some left :rotfl: )

Watch dvds from screenselect, then cancel account and return asap to avoid getting charged.

When on essential trip to Ikea ONLY buy what I'm going for (two small cushions - 60p each and a big pack of tealights). This could be hard - Ikea is a dangerous place to go! :rotfl:

Buy ink cartridges online to get the best price - need them next week!

Post subscription form for magazine (one with loads of the kind of jobs I want to apply for!). Get a £2 discount for using direct debit so do this!

    Think that's everything!

Have a good week everyone :D
