Setting up a REAL merchant account!!!!

Reading through many articles on other websites, i have found out that Paypal dont have to follow the bank regulations etc etc etc.....they infact can take your money, freeze your account without a good enough reason.
They also charge people interests and they also make their money by freezing account. You may ask how? They get interest from the money they hold, that could explain why they love freezing peoples accounts for no reason.
My question is that if paypal charge and have so much bad feedback, why not sign up with other REAL merchant accounts? ? I found one on this site but not sure if ebay members would prefere to receive money from this account or send money to the account.
The site is: http://www.free-merchant.com
I would like some suggestions, because after reading about the 'horror' stories I kinda feel at unease of having a paypal account. Are there other accounts like paypal that are available with low interest and possible no interest? what about the link i provided, are they any good?
Thanks!

A bit of casual investigation shows that site to be a complete scam. What sort of bank is going to use hotmail for it's domain registration contacts? What goes around - comes around0

Personally I would stick with PayPal. I know many people have had problems with PayPal and lost money but for me it is the best option and I would always choose to accept PayPal only on eBay.
I don't think you would get many eBay users willing to pay via that means anyway.
If I wanted a merchant account for an ecommerce site i certainly wouldn't apply for the one that you provided a link to. It doesn't look very authentic at all.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Thanks fr the replies. I wont be siging up with them, but i do think they are authentic.
There is a forum with many users who use that rather than paypal, and they seem to think its alright. Is there an alternative to Paypal? e.g. a riva?
Thanks

That site is a gateway to Cardservice International. A few Googles (including Groups) will tell you all you need to know about them. Can I help?0 -
I guess it's your choice at the end of the day lazymoezy. It's just my personal opinion that I believe that it isn't authentic however I could be wrong.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

All the major banks offer merchant accounts, it will cost an arm and a leg and make paypal look like a bargain, but they are out there. You still have all the associated problems of chargebacks though as charging back on a credit card is common to virtually all credit cards, and some debit cards in the UK and it isn't just limited to paypal.

why not use nochex? they offer a merchant account if it is high value items you trade in. otherwise the regular account is fine for items upto £100.
nochex are UK based. the transfer of your funds to your bank account is QUICKER than paypal (3 days vs 7 days). and more importantly they DO NOT hold onto your money for 6 months whilst they freeze your account for that reason...now what was that reason? oh yes - no apparent reason!!0 -

Got to agree after researching into this. Best to stick with paypal but request the buyer has a confirmed address. You can then have a good chance of being proteced by paypal or take them to court ( if they have used a stolen card). Though even then there is chance of getting scammed if your dealing with a pro. Just be aware of the risks (there is alwasy a risk in any business) and realize the no of scams you will experinece will be low.0
