Firstly, this post seems a little too much like advertising and would seem to fall foul of the rules: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1009362&postcount=3

Second, my comments were not specifically addressed at you, but generally at anyone considering using your services.

I will still be using haggle4me to make/save some money, same as i do on Ebay, and shoppers are free to decide to use this site or not,i still help out on the "i want to buy or do thread" when i can,as i am usually busy haggling.
I also point out any great bargains i find and post them here MSE too,and i am very happy to do so.......along side everything else.

As i said before i have had no problems with money getting paid to me or transferred to me from Haggle4me......

I know this site will take off,it just takes time to win peoples trust esp when it comes to any involvment with money, credit cards etc.........

I can only give my opinion as i see it and have experienced
:T It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. :T

Firstly, £1 put you off (well actually it's 50p).
50p is nothing, if I lost 50p in the street I really wouldn't care.
Anyway, what else did you say...

Actually as Steve says here that's all handled by a subsidiary/brandname of Deutsche Bank - not exactly some unknown and new internet company!
Now, what are you going on about with your ideas for fees. I think the percentages model is much better than you suggestion - yeah sure there is alot more work involved in saving £20 on a £55 item than on a £5000 item, but in the future I personally think higher percentages will have to be paid to the haggler (as in you'll pay a larger percentage of your saving out) to entice hagglers to pay more attention to the lower priced items. That's just my idea though, nothing the site has suggested.
Oh and I agree with you that the £50 or less listings should be in the main section, but as they said they're a small company and can't afford to employ a full time coder quite yet (I agree wholeheartedly that marketing should be where the money goes!).

Well that's why you set your own benchmark - you spend as long as you want to coming up with that benchmark, and then use haggle4me to validate that you've got the best price (as Tony said up top,

the idea of paying a percentage for that bargain i believe will immediately turn people off of it.
Nonsense, it means they're paying a fee that's relevant to the value of the bargain!

Oh and your comments about eBay, well what Steve says about eBay corp taking the seller's profits is 100% right, I used to sell piles of DVDs, I'd make about a pound on each and they make about £1.50 (that's why DVDs aren't cheap on eBay btw).

What's that, we're breaking the rules? Actually we're just discussing a company on the Internet like various other threads do. Besides the Mod's have already taken a look at this thread and another... here and, well just read this post.
Basically the site's aware of this thread, and we should be discussing what we are discussing, and not how to make money out of other MSEr's inept abilities at haggling (well, compared to masters like myself anyway :P), not that I've won a haggle for ages...

Anyway, just wanted to point out how I disagree with all your points. Cheerio!

Anyone have any update news about how this site is doing?
It sounded like it would be a real hit among MSEers when it launched months ago.

I was going to open a site like this a while ago, but the concept is more general then just finding a good deal. Google Answers is better, you can pay someone to find you the best deal on an item at a smaller rate.

The concept sounds good, but there are too many little nuances in how it can be executed well.

I've just made a listing on the Haggle4me website for the 1st time.
I'm after a Panasonic DVD recorder. It'll be interesting to see what the 'hagglers' come up with.

DVD Recorder: Listing details: Haggle 4 me

    Keep smiling, Wilf.

It's a surprise to me that after nearly a year, Haggle4me is not more popular.

I'm amazed they're still in existance at all. Their whole concept could be wiped out in an instant, if for example MSE had a "Wanted" subforum with the same idea - their fees are too greatly stacked in favour of those finding the prices (and indeed Haggle4me).

I also think people are smart enough to realise that they're paying Haggle4me a cut for doing absolutely nothing - they are merely a middleman and providing a website... and this site clearly demonstrates that the profit motivation is not required for people to help each other.

I also think people will have a psychological problem with Haggle4me when they realise that the "bargain" is actually going to cost them money. And whilst it may be the most rational decision - i still think that will forever be a sticking point with people and stop Haggle4me from ever progressing anywhere.
