Initially I thought this was a great idea but the main problem is that on the 3 items I've tried to find a better price for, your price MUST be £20 less than the buyers price. Not always possible! e.g can you find a apple ipod shuffle for 52.95? not from auction sites. :rolleyes:0

I've been using the site and made some money. The £20 saving is sometimes tough because a lot of people already have a pretty good price. I think the problem at the moment is that most people listing are fairly internet savvy and have already shopped around online.
However, if the site takes off because "Joe Public" start to use the site then I think it will be easier to help people find deals and make some money for ourselves! It is your typical Argos highstreet shopper that you want listing things!0 -
Very true and the fact that I like the concept so much makes me complain more about it!
I really think they pulled the £20 marker out of thin air, it doesn't represent any relation to what is being asked for. £20 is nothing for a £995 Plasma screen (2%) but for an Ipod which costs £70 is 28% of the original value!
I think they either need to reduce the £20 to say £5 or 10% of the threshhold, that way we havea fighting chance!
Another point is that way buyers are mroe likely to re use the site as they know they had a savingbut at the moment it appears well no one is on this site, no one has even looked for me where as WE have!
Final point is, If I had the choice between paying £100 for an item or someone finding the item for £81 I would appreciate being told about it as I'm still making a £15.20 saving (after the £3.80 hagglers fee) But at the moment you can't
I want this site succeed but it isn't doing itself any favours.

I just found something for them but it's only £17.00 cheaper,so i can't even let them know,so i agree, they should bring the £20 amount down.....:T It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. :T"A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist."

i doubt anyone has yet accumulated £100, will take a while for most.
Do you know how long this site has been around?0 -
I contacted haggle4me using their feedback form about the £20 limit and why they take a pound to open an account. I got a surprisingly detailed and honest answer:
"We understand it can be difficult to find the £20 minimum saving and ideally we would like to bring this down to £10. However, as a start-up company we also need to manage how much potential loss we expose ourselves to with each trade. Basically, we only receive £1 in revenue when a Haggler finds the minimum £20 saving. Out of that 17.5p goes to the VAT man and around 50p to our Payment Service Provider/Acquiring Bank for taking the card payment. The remainder (and then some) is spent on other overheads.
Whilst we accept that we are going to make a loss until get significantly more users (and economies of scale kick in) we also need to manage the extent of this loss in the short term if we want a long term future. It is a difficult balance to find but, in light of your comments and others received, we have decided to review again the minimum saving amount - no promises though!
The £1 deposit taken to open your h4m account is done for two reason. Firstly, it enables us to verify new users against their credit card and avoids us letting time wasters loose on the site. Secondly, it enables us to automate the payment process (I won't bore you with the technical and legal reasons for this), which significantly reduces the amount of effort Shoppers have to put in to use the service. We think this is going to be crucial if we are to attract Shoppers who do not tend to use the interent much because they do not have the time or experience. It is these sort of Shoppers that will benefit the most from the service provided by Hagglers and from whom our Hagglers will earn the most money!
We do very much appreciate your input and if you have any other suggestions or comments then we would be pleased to hear from you again. In the mean time please keep the faith and spread the word!"
I still think it is a great idea and I admire their courage in actually going for it.
:T :T
Let's hope that they benefit from the word of mouth effect that fuelled the likes of eBay and Friends Reunited when they started out. I quite fancy the idea of becoming a full time Haggler!0
