Using inclusive minutes abroad
Comments

If you phone Orange you can get £5 free roaming credit as one of their trial offers (also £5 free international calls, 30 free picture messages, 4mb free internet). But other than that I don't think you can use your inclusive minutes while abroad. Have a look through this forum, there is a lot of discussion about call-through numbers which are no longer valid through inclusive minutes.0

The first thing is that USA has different frequency bands of 850 and 1900, compared to our 900 and 1800. A triband here will add 1900; quadband has all 4 (!).
I strongly suggest you use a local SIM card in an unlocked phone. Then calls will be in the 10 to 20c per minute area, but note that they also charge incoming calls as all the extra cost of mobile is on the caller. And get a calling card that will cost about 2 cents per minute by calling a USA access number.

Note that some are only available new with a phone as well. I'd suggest BeyondWireless or Callplus, or there are often T-mobile and Cingular SIMs on eBay
For calling cards, see

There are over 800 calling cards at Pinonsale; to save going mad looking there at all the surcharges on some cards, I'd recommend Bizon at Masterbell - 2c per minute, and usable in several other countries for later use.Alltheloginsaretakenappar wrote:Have a look through this forum, there is a lot of discussion about call-through numbers which are no longer valid through inclusive minutes.0
