Ridiculous sexist behaviour by asda there!
Im permanently bigger than most women are for the few months when they get preggers, but I'd get a fine and they wouldn't.
Maybe they should have spaces for people like you as well then. perhaps write to your local supermarket and suggest it!0 -
Anyone can display such a sign. 9 times out of 10 the vehicle displaying this sign isn't carrying a wheelchair or a disabled person. I've seen this many times when I was cabbing and parked up on a rank. Obviously fit people displaying a disabled badge, on their own, park up, come back loaded up with shopping, jump in and drive off. I don't read signs in the back of other vehicles when I'm parking.
Baby onboard, sexy senior citizen, beware of the dog, bulls**t.0 -
I concur! In fact, life is so different now you don't need to go to a supermarket at all because all the supermarkets give you the option of having your shopping delivered! Therefore you shouldn't really need to drive your children to the supermarket at all because you could do your shopping online (and avoid the scene with the tantrums at the checkout over whether or not the little darlings can have sweets) and get it delivered.
:j
Indeed! Which is why I do most of my shopping online, there are however occasions when this isn't possible and a trip to the supermarket is unavoidable. I hate shopping in store full stop with or without kids, always end up spending more than i want to, hate the crowds and queues, hate trying to lug loads of shopping and 2 young children up the stairs to my flat etc.
To be honest I think supermarkets should put the parent and child spaces further away from the shop as so many lazy people seem to have a problem with them. I'd still park in them even if they were at the far side of the car park simply because they are so much safer to use to get kids out of the car.0 -
It would depend on how long I was going to be. If it was just a few minutes, I would leave a note with my mobile number asking them to contact me if they needed to have access. Otherwise, probably try & find somewhere else.
I don't think it's right to ignore the notice - that's selfish & inconsiderate.0 -
No Never under any circumstances0

As for the parent and child spaces, most ignorant use I have witnessed was a parent with three strapping great lads parking in a parent & child space and when challenged responded "I'm a parent, they're my children"!
Up to the supermarkets to police and fine I think!
Personally i believe there should not be parent and child parking near the store enterance. All bays should be made wide enough! Cars are getting bigger and wider and drivers are getting worse at parking them. I think this is why the parent & disabled bays are abused. Also a percentage of drivers with disabillity may have no problems with walking, so why are they all so close to store. And just because the car has a 'badge' doesn't mean the occupant is actually disabled.0 -
no I would NOT remain parked. It is for a specific reason that the sign is in the car! the person with a wheel chair doesn't have a choice about whether to park or not - able bodied people do :mad:0

My answer to anyone that says yes they would park there, is:- If you want my parking space then have my disability.
Nothing annoys me more than trying to find a disabled bay at my local store (TESCO) only to find that half the bays are taken up by lazy ***** (put in your own) that think that it does not apply to them. The manager says there is nothing he can do!0 -
Who said anything about parking in a disabled bay? That wasn't part of the original post.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.0 -
Of course not! But I do think it's time people learned how to park properly anyway. How many times do you see a car (usually a 4 x 4!) parked across two bays because
a) "I've got a 4 x 4 so I can park how/where I like - because I'm bigger than you"
b) The driver of the 4 x 4 is incompetent and not in control of a vehicle too big for him/her to manoeuvre properly
c) "S*d everybody else, I've got a parking space"
d) "What are those white lines for?"
Grrrrrr!
Its not just 4x4's. Pembrokeshire inundated with old folk and these are just as bad, including my wifes 89 year old nan, who is also very hard of hearing. Shouldn't be on the bloody road.0
