Laptop dongle abroad

Options
Hi All,

we are off to France the end of this week and are thinking of taking the laptop with us. Is it possible to get a dongle that will work in France? Only need basic internet/email access so not a huge download required whilst we're away for the week. Who does the best deal?

Thanks in advance

Martin

i wuld suggest using the wifi network in france purley because the cheapest youll get on a mobile dongle is £10.00 per megabyte abroad as you pay roaming costs the deals where you get say 3 gb for 15 quid only work in this country

Don't even think about it unless you want a huge roaming bill. Why do you think internet and email are not downloading?-if you view a web page, you are using data.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Make sure your dongle is not locked, then get an Orange France SIM card (Mobicarte), costing perhaps €10 with €5 credit, top it up slightly if necessary and use one of their internet add-ons. It says they are for handset use, but I've read that it's also possible via a computer

If you visit regularly, note that credit on French SIMs doesn't stay valid for long, so you might need to juggle a bit with how much credit you leave on it betwen trips
