Changing surname on Paypal account

Why do Paypal have to make life so bleedin' difficult
I recently got married and now all my debit and credit cards are in my married name. As a result I can't add my new cards onto PP as they are now in a different name.
I emailed them to ask how to go about this and just got this response
Thanks for contacting PayPal. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you
with your questions.
I understand you would like to change the name on your account. Firstly let
me apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you. To complete your
name change request, PayPal requires the following documents to be faxed or
uploaded:
* A copy of a bank or credit card statement showing your account
number, new name and address. Only the top portion of your statement
displaying the required information is necessary. It is not necessary to
display any transactions on the statement.
* A photo ID showing your new name and address.
* If you are requesting a legal name change, you will need to include a
legal document showing that change, such as a marriage licence, divorce
decree or legal name change certificate.
My bank statements are all received through digital banking. I haven't changed my passport as there is 9 years left on my current one and I have no plans to go abroad anytime soon so don't see the point in paying for a new one just yet. All I have is a copy of my marriage certificate.
Has anyone else had experience of this? I've replied to their e-mail so we'll see what they say!!!

You could just open another paypal account that would be the simpler option if you want it in your new name0 -
I had exactly the same problems with paypal when I tried to change my name a few years ago - I gave up in the end and the account is still in my maiden name (they were really really unhelpful via email). I found that there is no problem adding new cards to the account - even though the name on them is different to my paypal account. Have you actually tried adding your cards to the account? Or did you do what I did, and just assume that it won't work?0

I tried to add it but the field that had my surname in wasn't one that you could change. I'll give it another go and see what happens.
Thanks.
EDIT
Just tried again and I definately cannot change the surname, only the forename. I could add mu hubby's card but not my own!!!0 -
MM wierd not sure how we added hers then i'll have a look0

Just spoke to my wife apparently we went to buy something on ebay. Clicked the payment bit when you go into that (sign into paypal via ebay) there is a link to add funding options. We added her card there (with a different surname). It now appears as a option in my paypal account. Hope that makes sense0

Thanks cyberbob. I'll have to give that a try the next time I buy something! Hoping that Paypal come back and say that I can send them a copy of the marriage cert and that will do but I'm not hopeful. Everything else that I've had to change my surname on has been really easy and quick, trust PP to put a spanner in the works!0

I did this recently and just faxed them a photocopy of my driving licence and marriage certificate, they updated the account a couple of days later.0

I did exactly as NBirdy- gave pp a call after several unhelpful emails and they asked for my marriage cert, cover letter, bank statement and bill (I've not got any photographic id).
It took about 2 weeks after I'd faxed everything to get changed though."Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye."...Miss piggy0 -
maybe it's time I changed to my married name (been married 3 1/2 yrs). i'd left it as didn't have access to fax over at time. not had any issues apart from a parcel sent using paypal details rather than ebay, meant i needed to show my marriage certificate anyway, to prove it was me when collecting from post office!0

The problem is I have no photographic ID in my married name and all my bank statements and bills are paper-free so I don't have one to send them, if you see what i mean?0
