Bathroom Mould Help Please

We have a fully tiled shower cubile and even though the bathroom window is always open, the mould grows like there is no tomorrow. I have RSI and therfore am not very good at scrubbing the grout to clean the mould off and even if do manage to clean them, the mould is there again a couple of days later! Someone suggested using bleach and a toothbrush but I don't like that idea.
Anyone got any better ideas about how to clean it off and keep it off for longer?
Thanks x

Have you tried the 'mould & mildew' spray?
Trouble with shower cubicles is they are always damp. You need a vent in or near the shower to an outside wall if possible.
Grout is a rough surface so cannot think of any way to avoid the problem. You can buy white grout pens that paint over the grout but haven't tried them myself.
Maybe someone else has better ideas? There is always light within the dark0 -
Bad luck on the mould front. It sounds like you are doing the right thing with the window open, perhaps you could leave the bathroom door open too to create a draught or have an extractor fan fitted (but it must be expensive to do that!)
I am one of those people who use bleach and a toothbrush and it works rather well and doesnt come back for some time. I just dip the toothbrush in the bleach and then use it on the grout, handle up brush down and then brush down the grout (otherwise bleach dribbles onto your hands.) I dont do it very hard but then leave it about 20mins and wash off with the shower. I only have to do it every 3 months or so.0 -
I have tried the mould and mildew spray but not with much luck. Unless I get any further ideas, the good old toothbrush and bleach it will have to be.
Thanks to everyone.0 -
I recently had a book from the library called Home Hints and Tips by Rosamund Richardson. I made a note of the mould and mildew in bathrooms tips for future reference but I haven't tried them myself.
She says that borax prevents mould and mildew from forming and suggests a solution of 2oz borax in 1/2 pint white vinegar and applied with a cloth or spray bottle to damp walls, left for 30 mins before wiping off.
Or she says spray problem areas with neat white vinegar and leave for 30 mins.0 -
I assume you do wipe the tiles dry as soon as possible after using the shower? That's the best way to delay the onset of mildew. You can get rubber "blades" on a short handle, like window cleaners use, to remove the surface water, then follow with a good wipe down with a shammy (chamois?) leather to finish off.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe0

I use Dettol Bleach, you can buy it at Tesco's. Make sure you keep windows open, just spray on leave for about 10 mins and rinse off.
I use it once a month and it keeps it away :j0 -
I will have to try the borax treatment. Thanks Saving-Grace.
Bogof-Babe - No, I don't wipe down all the tiles straight after my shower but once I have cleaned the mould off almost completely, I will start doing exactly that. Thanks.
Thanks for all your tips.0 -
please help me get rid of my mould in the bathroom i have tried baking powder and lemon but it didnt work "! any other recipes.
Thanks0 -
I know it goes against Money Saving Old Style rules, but Dettox Mould & Mildew remover works really well. I think diluted bleach does as well, but not as good as above.0

I soak kitchen paper in diluted bleach solution (always wear gloves of course), then stick the kitchen papers above the bath tub where the mould is - let them sit for a couple of hours or so.
Remove the next day and rinse with water.0
