Ebay accounts...

How many ebay accounts can 1 person have?

I had some trouble buying and selling on one account, so opened another one to buy and sell, then had some trouble with another seller  so had to open another account purely to sell, but then thought what happens if I have bad feedback and as had so many things to sell, thought better to open yet another and another...

Is having 5 ebay accounts against the rules? Is there someway to 'merge' the feedback and accounts together as to be honest, I might forget the password one day, and it is just too much hassle to manage so many accounts?

Sorry about the rant but if I had known it wasn't any better, would have just stuck to 1 selling and 1 buying account, but having 3 selling accounts, I would rather close 1 or even 2 accounts. Is there any way to merge or shall I just stick with 1 for the time being? and use the other if something goes wrong with 1?

I only have one account - for selling and buying. I had a neg some years ago when I first started using it (MANY years ago) but none since... If the neg was undeserved then I'd let people make up their own minds when they buy from me... most can see through buyers who are only out to try and cause trouble and will ignore the feedback!

The problem is if you dont sell much. 1 negative feedback can effect your positioning in searches and lead to suspension. if you sell less than 20 items a month 1 negative can have a severe effect on you.

You used to be able to merge, pretty sure they put a stop to it though.
I don't think you're limited when it comes to the number of accounts - each one has to have a separate email address, that's all AFAIK.
You might as well close the ones that look bad, I'd have thought?

The only annoying thing is the new accounts opened for selling has built up more feedback than the old one. Which seems to be a bit strange, as would have thought most people would not buy from newbies, less than 10 FB (new accounts).

Could you change a username many times, and would that put off customers?

Wow! How do you manage all those passwords and listing, fb, selling etc?

Do you have 3+ paypal accounts as I thought of opening another one, but it says only 2-personal+premier, but 3 (if business, personal, premier). It seems hard to manage especially if pp puts a hold and you want to pay something, but can't use pp funds in case you need to refund...

You can change your username. If it was changed once I doubt it would have any effect, but if you did it lots you may put some people off.

Personally I wouldn't change my username to 'hide' from previous customers (if that's what you mean)

I've changed my username a couple of times. I'm not a big seller, so when I was selling a batch of similar items, I thought it would be better to change to a more appropriate username. (The old name was pretty stupid, IIRC)

It doesn't put me off when buying. It's a no brainer really... you can just look at the old names anyway  Anyone really wanting to hide their misdeeds could easily open a new account.

  • hello..

i use mine to sell and my hubby's to buy stuff..

i agree with cyber bob and let them see any neg feedback.. i once had a moron buy from me. I was selling vouchers and written all dates and clearly stated they would have 3 days to redeem.. posted first etcc.. but he still gave me neg feedback, said i was abusive (when i said that the dates are clearly stated and do not know why he missed them).. accused me of not writing valid to next to them and just number ?.. obviously it was not clear that i had written it at the end of every line!!.

then, i had a lady buy from me a week or so later and in her feedback she said in capitals that i was nice and polite.. she had obviously seen the feedback and auction and dismissed it.. i dont even mind it being there as some people have commented on it!! they have found it funny!

on the other hand i ended up with some fake items from my hubbys so i like to keep the two seperate!

    it is a preference!

Organisation is the only way to do it if your a sole trader. I have systems that work for me. I am a bit of a tidy freak which does help. I only have 3 paypal accounts a personal one a business and a micro one. You just ahve to make sure that you keep things seoerated and make sure that you don't confuse your amazon stuff with ebay!
