Dog Grooming salons v mobile vans

Options
Ive just been quoted £45 per dog to have them washed, dried and clipped (bearing in mind that they just need brushing and the straggly hairs trimming on legs and tail, not a full body clip - they are mongrels not pedigrees)

Is this normal prices? This is £90 each time which will be prob every 2-3 months.

Ive left a couple of messages with some mobile dog wash and groom vanss to see how much they charge, but are these just as good as the shop kind of salons??

Any advice appreciated!

    Hi

If it is just brushing, and some straggly hairs then i would just do it myself. If on the other hand it is a lot more than just a quick trim them you may have to pay for it.
For a cocker trim/cut it is £40.00 here.

I pay £12 for my SBT to be bathed (Not sure if she grooms her), this is with a grooming salon. I got a quote once from a mobile van type & to do the same would be £24! (Midlands)

Just as a guide for you, I pay £27 to have my bichon frise completely groomed (bathed, clipped into bichon shape, nails etc) with the grooming lady at my local kennels. My mum also has a bichon (puppy) and she pays £25 at a local grooming salon.
Your quote seems expensive to me!
The groomer normally takes about 2-3 hrs to give my boy a makeover (and he's usually past his best when she gets him!)

Yep, I pay about the same as Rachel, £25 for my large Yorkie, bath, dry, full reshape of his Yorkie cut, nails etc., That's in a salon and takes around 2hrs.

I pay £20 for my cairn terrier for a full groom at a salon. This is reasonable price round here as some wanted £30 for the same service, im in Balloch Scotland. Other people who use the mobile groomers say they are equally as good as the salons. I would sit with the yellow pages or the computer and phone around and ask for quotes.

If your dogs are shorthaired, £45 each seems expensive, unless maybe they are very large.

I have a Rough Collie, so to groom him properly start to finish takes a good three hours, and my groomers (I have two) charge £35 and £40 respectively. One of my groomers has the mobile van and one comes into the house - the important thing for me is that I can stay with my dog while he is groomed so I know just how well he is treated. :)

That is weird as! I took my lab to a salon this morning after ringing a mobile one and being told it was £50 for her!! she's only small for a labrador! The salon I took her to only wanted £20 and cleaned her ears and everything.

I pay £25 for our toy poodle to be washed and dried, trimmed, ears plucked and feet done. We take doggie to groomers house, if she came to us I would have to pay an extra £10 petrol on top.

I pay £25 for my cocker to be washed, dried, clipped, nails done at a doggie parlour. If it's a dry cut it's £15.

Price you've been quoted may be due to the size of your dogs  You didn't say how big they were

A van type here wanted £24 wheras currently I take her to the Groomer's house, she has an extension with a seperate entrance at the back & it's £12
Maybe the vans have more overheads, petrol/insurance/tax/MOT?
