Thanks all for your advice. I am going to allow her up the stairs but keep doors shut. However, i will keep her in kitchen at night so she's not pawing and crying at my bedrrom door, can hear her in kitchen loud enough!!

my kitten has a squeaky little voice  can hardly hear even when you're stood close by!
Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession :o:o

One of mine is mute although he did gain a voice for about 24hrs after he was neutered last week. :D

I have always closed mine in the kitchen overnight and given them their last feed as I am shutting them in. I make them wait in the hall with the door shut while I prepare it, and as soon as I open the door they come bombing in.

I think that having 2 of them helps overnight as they obviously amuse each other
  • Hi,

We tried with our cats firstly, not to let them upstairs, then not to let them in the bedroom and they now have full run of the house! If we want a night without any possibility of disturbance, we lock them out of the bedroom and put the washing basket outside of the door, which works fine.

Another idea to use alongside scratching posts is the coir or coconut doormats. Our cats love scratching these and use them more than the scratching posts. Plus you can use them to wipe your feet - 241 moneysaving!
