hi,
My friends 3G 12 month mobile phone contract runs out this month and so isit too late to cancel it because they normally automatically renew it right? This is because you would normally give 30 days notice right to the company. What are his rights!?
Thanks.
Andriy.

If he doesn't want to stay with Three or wants to negotiate a better contract, tell him to ask them for his PAC code. They will send it to you straight away by text (after trying to tempt you to stay with better deals). If he is in his final month, he will be liable to pay for the rest of that month and the time period till he uses it to transfer his number (and thus terminate the contract). He must use the PAC code within 30 days.
They won't start him on another 12 month contract unless he recieves a new phone from them.Try to imagine nothing ever existed...0 -
Three do not automatically renew contracts. After the end of his minimum term (12 or 18 months) he enters onto a rolling 30-day contract, where he can cancel by giving notice 30 days from the date he wants it to end.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

So when is the best time to cancel. I am also with 3 and want to move to somebody else (although not sure who atm). I want to carry on with the rest of my contract and then stop it so it doesnt go onto the 30 day rolling contract.
Do I have to give notice? If so, how much? If I rang up tomorrow and asked for a PAC code (ready for the end of the contract as its valid for 30 days) will I be charged anything extra?0 -
Asking for your PAC code initiates the 30 day notice. So just ask for it when you are enter your final month, and use it by the last day at the latest to incur no extra charges.Try to imagine nothing ever existed...0

How about if I have less than 30 days remaining on my contract? I think mine either ends this coming Monday (14th which is when I ordered it) or the 28th when it was delivered. Either way there is less than 30 days left. Do I have to give them leaving notice then? I thought it would just end and then go onto 30 day rolling which I could stop before hand.0

you still have to give 30 days notice. if you get a pac code and use it the contract will terminate when the number transfers over.
It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Dam, do you know how much they charge once my contract finishes?0

Ah I see, my current contract is £20/ month.
So, if my contract ends in 15 days, I will need 15 days of the rolling contract. Will I pay £9.37 (£20/ 31)x 15 + this months last bill?0 -
Yep. And to just confirm, you don;t have to give any notice on top of just asking for the PAC code. Just use it and the contract ends when the number transfers over.Try to imagine nothing ever existed...0
