Ironing board and iron is always a must. Padlocks are a good idea, combo ones means you dont forget/loose keys.

    /QUOTE]

You don't need an ironing board as there are plenty about.

You need only one combination lock and the rest have keys. In Catterick where the Army does infantry training you need 9 padlocks. Ok trying to remember 9 combinations if you are marvo the memory man or a card counter but not your average squaddie. The keys are left in the locker with the combination lock so that you don't have to carry them or lose them.

If they are joining the army and you have about £30 to spend this is a good pressie http://www.amazon.co.uk/Petzl-Tac-Tikka-Plus-Headtorch/dp/B0007Q3R3O
Must have a red filter on it.White light is no good.

He is joining the RM not going to Catterick. If he has 9 combo locks you simply set the 9 combos to the same number - hardly rocket science even for an average squaddie. You will need to set the combo anyway as they all come out of the factory on the same number! ;)

There are circumstances when white light if prereable to red, even at night. :D

No matter how many ironing boards are around, there is never one free when you want one!

travel wash could be a good one, from the TV programmes they get very dirty. I would also suggest baby oil for getting rid of the came cream with cotton wool
