Lou: You'll need to keep paying for the service for 12 months (with it connected to a phone line). If you move in 6 months, you'll can update Sky with your new address, but if you can't install the dish yourself at your new place, you'll need to pay someone to do it for you, or you'll end up paying Sky for no service...Gingercat0

So can you buy the starter pack, not subscribe to a 12 month contract get everything installed and sit back and enjoy the freeview channels like BBC 3 and ITV 2 etc? If not what is the cheapest option for me to be able to do this, I need it to be sky because with just a freeview box my reception is poor, or very unreliable reception anyway.0

only the sky remote is included in the starter pack, the sky box and card are to be delivered by an engineer once you call up sky to have the package started0 -
Doesn't look like BBC are doing much Motorbike coverage this season (particularly World Superbikes).
Therefore I would like British Eurosport, but the cheapest way I can find to get this is to sign up with $ky. The cheapest option with Eurosport is £19.50!!! Seems a lot for just 1 channel that I want.
Anyone know of a better way to get British Eurosport? Or am I gonna have to lump it and try this deal???0 -
does freeview not give you Eurosport
sorry but it seams not

No Freeview doesn't. Back in the days of OnDigital I was quite happy. Freeview gives very few decent channels.0

So it's very hard to avoid (if impossible) having to pay a subscription to Sky.only the sky remote is included in the starter pack, the sky box and card are to be delivered by an engineer once you call up sky to have the package started0 -
Olivermonkey: if you get the starter pack (and activate it to get your box installed), you are obliged to subscribe to Sky for 12 months. If you are after free digital satellite, do a search for "Freesat" - I think you pay about £130 for a box and installation, but then no subscription is required.Gingercat0

Yes I was after just Eurosport too - wondeful memories of CART racing coverage and touring cars... and Superbikes why not!
Looking at the Eurosport website, they don't offer clear broadcast on HotBird or Astra anymore, but instead have subscription deals with hundreds of package providers across Europe (E.g., Sky, NTL, Telewest etc).
Shame really because a twin feed 90cm dish pointing at Hotbird 17 Deg East (?) and reflected image from the strong signal from Astra 19 deg East was a great setup for the price.

Wouldn't recommend you buy thru these, but gives you an idea...0 -
Did any of you peeps buy this starter pack deal. I grabbed one off Ebay on the cheap, but cant find the unique code to quote them when calling.
