I have taken several high quality photos with my digital camera (ie each over 1MB in size) which I would like to email.... is there a way I can reduce the size/quality so that they are appropriate for emailing?
Any help would be much appreciated!

i just use paint. Once in there, image > stretch / skew and change by percentage.
You can't reduce red eye or owt but, well i'm too lazy and it's simple to do,0 -
I assume you mean you want to reduce the size of the file. What format are they? jpg?
Use something like Microsoft Photo Editor (included with Windows) to save as jpg and adjust the compression ratio. This is a compromise between file size and image quality, so you need to experiment and find out how much compression you can use and still have acceptable pictures. In some software you can also reduce the pixel bit depth, which will also reduce the size but reduce quality (e.g. try going from 24 bit to 16 bit).0 -
If you are emailing via Hotmail, it will do it for you if you use the special Attachment - Add Picture thingy.0

All good advice but actually for this simple task there is a really simple tool availbale for free from microsoft. It is one of they xp powertoys that only does this job. you right click the photo in explorer and select the new size you require. You can do 1 or many photos in one go.
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe
Now can someone help me? I have Adobe photoshop elements and would like to reduce the size of some photos to passport size but critically without losing any quality. Can someone tell me how to do that?0 -

You don't actually need to download the Powertoy if you're running XP (but it's easier for multiple photos) as all you need to do is right click on the photo you want to send, select Send To > Mail Recipient and you are asked if you want Windows to make the photos smaller. You are then offered a choice of sizes. This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

- Start -> My Pictures & locate your pics or Start -> My Computer & go to wherever you have your pics
- Click on the pic to select it
- On the left hand side, you should see a box headed 'File & Folder Tasks'
- Click on 'Email this file'
- In the pop-up box, click to select 'Make all my pictures smaller' and click ok
- Your email program <Outlook Express, etc> will pop up with the pic attached to a new email, ready to send.
Same as above but you need to select a few pics:- Press 'ctrl' (left bottom of keyboard) and hold down while clicking to select the pics you want
- Do the rest as above

As Tharweb says, the good thing about the powertoy as opposed to the "Send To >Mail Recipient" option is that the powertoy is really quick if you want to copy and resize a whole folder of large photo's...say for uploading to an online photo album.
Select all (then right click)> Resize Pictures > 800x600.
It'll do a batch copy and drop them wherever you want.

Bingo.Usually use Irfanview for batch processing.

Use https://www.picasa.com (FREE) view all your pics in one place, make changes if required and email from there, it reduces them for you.0
