    Hi All,

Had a great time away - popped down to the borders for a few days too.

Edinburgh very busy, but the street performers & exhibitions were brilliant.

A note of disappointment was Little Sparta - £10 each to get in & it's a little run down & sad looking. They also wanted £5 if you took any photographs - no loos, no cups of tea when you get there & it is a little bit of a hike up across an open field to get there with cows - I'm used to that sort of thing living where I do on a croft, but for a lot of people it would be a hardish tramp especially in the wet.

It made a great change getting away & we did enjoy it & many thanks to everyone here for all your suggestions & links.

Im looking for accomodation for 2 adults and a child(9) in Edinburgh or the surrounding areas over the Hogmany period.

Does anybody know of budget places to stay or even better a house sitting service?
    need to do better
  • I think you will struggle to get anything reasonably priced this near. The Hogmany Party brings in a lot of visitors and hotels tend to be booked up well in advance. There are a few Travelodges, Premier Inn and IBIS has a place off the Royal Mile.
