I would love to go to Little Sparta, sometimes they run day trips on a coach during festival time, must look into that.
Sounds like you have similar taste to me, architecture wise I would recommend Scottish Parliament (across the road from Holyrood Palace), it's free to get into the public areas, you might have to pay for a tour though. A little way up the Royal Mile is the Scottish Poetry Library which is a lovely peaceful building that often has work by Ian Hamilton Finlay there.
The Botanics are lovely, and free to get into, apart from the glasshouses. The national art galleries are all good too. If you get through to Glasgow you'd probably enjoy the Burrell and the Hidden Gardens is one of my favourite places.
Don't know much about the Falkirk area but it's not far from Edinburgh or Glasgow, and the wheel is another thing on my list of things to do!Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

Rosslyn Chapel is fantastic, but I think they're trying to curb visitor numbers, so you have to make sure you're ahead of the crowds in August!

I also vouch for the Camera Obscura - on a clear day it's amazing!
There's also lots of entertainment around on the High Street - there always has to be at least one Pan Pipe group! (though there has been a decline in 'living statues' as some of the nasty locals were nipping them on their way past! :rotfl:)0 -
Thanks all these are all great suggestions.
