Decisions on New Phone

Hi all,

I posted a thread last month stating about the Omnia HD phone would probably be my ideal phone, however I've had a hold of a display phone in the Orange shop and found it is a little on the large side for me and I don't mind a meaty phone!

Ideally, I want a phone that's a Capacitive Touch Screen, 5MP+ Camera, Quick and easy to use. I also ideally want it to be on Orange too.

I've read all the rumours about the iPhone coming to Orange, but no concrete evidence that it is actually going to be available on Orange. Would also need to know the cost of the phone and tariff too. I want to be on £25 a month or less.

My current contract to O2 is set to renew on the 24th Sept, but I want to cancel this on the 24th Aug as I need a new phone soon cause mines battered now.

I'm not bothered about having to pay for the handset (within reason) as I can get £80 from recycling my current phone online.

All help, advice and guidence is appreciated.

The HTC Hero is a no brainer on Orange. It has a beautiful capactive touch screen, uses the slick, fast and incredibly customisable yet easy to use Android OS. The Android app market is brimming full with new developers, and therefore makes this app market potentially as good as the Apple App store.

5MP camera (though probably not as good as the equivalent on a Samsung), also has a handy trackball which glows white :p.

The phone is incredibly well built and is soft to the touch.

Closest thing to an iphone in terms of slick presentation and ease of use without the extorionate costs.

Look at Dialaphone . co . uk, they have a range of good deals on that handset.

Also worth looking at is the Nokia 5800 (dialaphone are doing a brilliant 18 month deal on that with 200 pound automatic cash back (no redemption crap) which gives you 1200 mins, unlimited texts and mobile internet for under 24 pound a month (you pay 35 pound to orange, but after your automatic cashback, it works out cheaper).

While it may not be as slick as the Hero, and the resistive screen isnt as sensitive, it is easy to use and has amazing sound through the speakers! Brilliant value for money.
Try to imagine nothing ever existed...
  • Thanks for your views, I am edging more towards the Hero now just want to make sure I dont make a stupid choice lol

Orange will only supplying the older 3G version. o2 will be the only suppliers of the new 3GS version.

Are you aware that the iPhone doesn't meet your request of a 5mp+ camera? it also doesnt have a flash
