STW Debt Collection Search

Hello all
Quick question, I have finally gotten round to checking out my credit file and noticed that there was an entry by CCML (Complete Credit Management Limited) - Severn Trent Water on it giving a reason of the search to be debt collection. I have never missed a payment on anything so to see this was a bit of a shock. I called ST and they confirmed my account was in order and they too were confused, I was told my query would be passed on to the Debt Strategy Team and would receive a call back.
That was a week ago, I have just called again and got a very rude man saying that the search is just a footprint and it will not cause any problems regarding my credit score. Is this true as he seemed very uninterested? he said if I must remove it to email their customer services and give valid reasons as to why it should be removed.
Has anyone else had this problem as I don't know what to do about it. All advice will be kindly appreciated as I will in the near future be remortgaging and as it's still pretty bleak in that area I don't want my credit file making things harder for me.
Thanks for reading
