    Really? Many branches of financial work require you to be a 'fit and proper person', which covers issues including personal financial problems, CCJs, conduct in directorships etc.

    I think other non-financial professions also have some similar requirements, police, solicitors etc.

    Not that either of these cases would seem to apply to the OP, glad you got it sorted out!

    My OH went for a job in a bank and was asked to provide details of her bank accounts and what state they were in (and they were in a state!!)

    "The Council Tax equivalent is a Liability Order (issued by a magistrates court, a CCJ is issued by a Crown Court). A Liability Order doesn't affect your credit rating".

    I thought a CCJ was issued by a county court , not crown :p

    Your right , shouldn't type when I'm half asleep.
    I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
