How to make a sofa-bed more comfortable?

Have you considered cutting your losses and just buying a better sofa bed - maybe if you looked in auctions and second hand shops you might get something much better quality for a knock down price. A £300 sofa bed is not going to be designed for anything more than occasional use and you might find you spend out on a mattress topper only to have the sofa bed give in!
If you want a foam cut to size shop - I regularly drive past one in Hendon - it's roughly here on the main A5. I don't know what the prices are like, I just regularly sit in the queue at the traffic lights, staring at it!0 -
Can you feel the bars/slats through the matteress? If you can, I had the same problem with one of my old sofa beds, I found putting flat card board boxes underneath the matteress (if you could call it that) helped.Wins for 2013: Cafetiere (£40), Mangajo Drinks, Alan Partridge goodies0

NW London,
I understand that quality costs ... but can't afford £100 on this...
interesting idea with the old duvet ... I could buy 2-3 single duvets and sew them togheter, and put some elastic bands over the corners like the mattress pads have...
This week-end I have to solve it somehow... or I will sleep on the floor this year as it may be more comfortable...
Are you anywhere near Camden?
I don't actually live in London, but there are loads of markets dotted about.
The only problem with duvets is that if you are a restless sleeper then they can move about and become uncomfortable.
A sheet of reflex foam could be held in place with a fitted sheet.0 -

I am close to Camden... where in Camden can I find a sheet of foam?
last night I put the duvet under us and covered ourselves with only a duvet cover, it seemed slightly better
Another problem is that it seems not to be straight... so we have to stay in a tension not to roll over .... (we won't roll, but it feels like it)0 -

I would have thought that you would be able to buy foam on Camden market.
Is it the floor that is uneven, or the bed?
If it is making you resist rolling over then this can cause back ache, because you can't relax properly.0
