u.tv Broadband

  • I have just been to the U.TV website and I have to say for a company that has built it's core business in Northern Ireland I am disgusted at their latest Broadband offer.

4 months free broadband conection  (this offer applies to ROI customers only) thanks a lot U.TV now you know we are really second class citizens when a company that promotes it self as a local business (even though we know it is owned by Scottish Radio Holdings) cannot offer it's local residents the same deal.

I don't see anywhere on the .U.TV site about a 2MB connection and why would you want it capped any way try https://www.enta.net no long term contract and for £34.99 per month plus the activation fee you will get a 2MB uncapped connection.

Please I would ask that in light of the way U.TV is giving ROI customers four months free broadband connection and treating us like second class citizens do not support a company that thinks so little of us.

sorry its not a 2mb cap its a 2gb cap.this is i am informed the equivalent of between 200&240 hrs online per month.the cost is £15.99 per month + you have free calls every evening and weekends.this sounds like a good deal to me!
sorry abour the mb error - must have had too much wine that night lol :-[ ram.
  • yeh im not too impressed that utv only offer this to residents in the republic. There is no incentive for NI residents to join them other than their free calls offer.
  • Here is a serious question

Do you really think those phone calls are free?

Think about it before you all answer.
  • i was with utv for about 5 months and had nothing but misery. in the end i had to buy my way out of the contract.
    i am with tiscali now.
    prices are as follows :
    5 speed £15.99
    10 speed £19.99
    20 speed with 2gb limit £15.99
    20 speed unlimited £24.99

if find this company brilliant. i started out paying 19.99 and they let me change it to the newer lower promotional amount each time free of charge. i was on 5 speed and i am now upgraging to 10speed free of charge. my connection rate is 2.3mbps ;D

Is this any good? BT phone me daily to get me to connect to broadband for 12 months. I think this would be better than BTs £17.99 a month package, I did a comparison. Am I right? ::)

Avoid UTV like the plague. I got letters from them ages ago telling me I was using their "unlimited" 512k service too much and would be getting kicked off it. After getting a couple of these letters I phoned them up and decided to leave. Was only using about 30gb a month then. Switched to Plusnet 2mb and things are schweet!!! Regularly use 80-100gb per month for £39.74.You get discount for referring customers as well. Mother in law used them too and nothing but problems with their telephone service. All in all, AVOID!!!
  • That Tiscali sounds like a good deal.
I use Wanadoo at £17.99 for a 1G speed and 2Gb limit/month, including a modem and 2 filters when I signed up. I've had absolutely no problems.

I had heard complaints about UTV so I didn't bother. (Anyway their utv life/live thing irritates me when the Nesbitt/Logue comedy gets going and Ms Ballentine keeps interupting that other sports guy.)

Why do I keep getting this Old Faithful thing at the end of my posts. I didn't put it there????????

With Wanadoo broadband for £17 although they say they cap you downloading at 2gb a month, when you check the small print they don't. They haven't introduced the software yet
