u.tv Broadband

Hi

Has anyone any feedback on u.tv broadband. I'm thinking of going for the 512k connection with unlimited downloading. The price is £21.99 and this includes their telephone service as well. I think it sounds good value?

  • I've been on this for the past month and have had no problems so far.

    What does anyone else think?
  • this is the best deal that i have seen so far, £14.99pm UNCAPPED! though with a BT setup charge of £58 and you have to buy your own modem at about £20:

though personally i think that tescos deal is the best, its 512k, completely UNCAPPED, they send you a free modem, and waive BT's setup charge, but best of all there is NO CONTRACT, so if you think its a poor service then you can cancel it at any time, and all for just £19.97pm:

the only problem with utv is that unless you pay big money its capped, and you'll think ill never use x amount in a month, but 1Gb is about 30 minutes of video in 1 whole month, not much really!
  • If any of you read the amount of computer magazines that I do then you will know to stay well clear of Tesco's Broadband service.

Also U.TV advertise 100% uptime no such thing in the webhosting world but it's a great ploy to get customers.

One company I have come across is https://www.enta.net they have a no contract set up which means you sign up you are not stuck with them for 12 months U.TV and Tesco tie you into a contract.

The only bad thing about the enta set up is the fact that they charge you a setup fee so you are not tied to a contract but this is still cheaper than having to pay the likes of U.TV or Tesco if you don't get the service you want.

You also have to buy your own modem which nowadays is about £20 for a cheap and nasty one, or about £39.99 for a decent one with a firewall.
  • That tesco deal sounds good, but the thing that interests me in the utv package is that for 21.99 you get utv talk included in the package as well as unlimited downloads. Has anyone got utv talk recently, what do they think?

You can do a comparison here

    http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/compare.asp

Plusnet and Pipex seem to come out well in the results. You have to pay for the connection and hardware though. You pays your money.....

It says at the top NOTE: Only ISPs with sufficient ratings are displayed. Tesco isn't displayed. Read into that what you will.

I'm with Vispa myself - not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for!

  • I thought that u.tv had only a 1MB line max?
