I received this letter last week from A&L and quickly filled out the form. However, I just looked online and found a HUGE contradiction to the major selling point of the card. http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/credit-cards/index.aspx It clearly says there is a 3% handling fee for BTs.

I shredded my latter after sending off the application, which I now regret but as so many others have also received the same letter, surely they can't get away with changing the terms?

They can change terms, but it's the terms that you sign for that count. You'll get a copy of your credit agreement sent through and if it differs from the one you applied for then you have the right to cancel it - you can also write to them and request the deal that you applied for, no guarantee they'll oblige but will only cost you the price of a stamp.

  • A bit of an update...

I've finally received my card. Good credit limit. Balance Transfer was processed last week (I checked my other CC and the balance now shows a zero). No Abbey BT fee.

    Can't grumble.

  • i am thinking about this card and am a A+L customer but i dont think i have had a letter regarding this card. If they included it with the banks statements then i missed it as i shredded the letters with bank statements

Dont want to apply and be turn down
  • Working for Abbey as I do.

The 3% BT fee is normally applicable however, the letter that was sent out was a special offer of the Zero card without the BT fee IF you applied before the end of August.

I applied for the card through A&L a couple of weeks ago and still have the letter. It clearly says no BT fee but on their website there is a 3% fee. The no BT fee was an offer to existing customers only, so people who applied with the form from the letter should not incurr any BT fees. The offer is not available anywhere else-only using the forms sent out.

The A&L offer is guaranteed as long as you apply before 30th September. Be warned though I have just called to track my application and they are running 2/3 weeks behind due to very high demand.

If anyone wants to track their application (only call after 3 weeks have passed since you sent your application) then the number is 0845 603 9820.

Fingers crossed it gets processed soon so I can rearrange my finances to suit!:money:
