I haven't received such an offer, but personally I wouldn't believe it without reading every single word of the letter. It almost definitely says "We guarantee to accept you..." and then in small print "...subject to terms and conditions".
It's like Vodafone saying (which they do) "Unlimited internet!!!" and then in small print saying "Unlimited means limited to 2GB per month".
In this country, companies are allowed to change the meaning of words in the English language and they don't have to explain themselves to anyone.
Personally, if it says "guaranteed acceptance", and the words "subject to" don't appear in the T&Cs, I'd apply, and then if I got declined, I'd lodge a formal complaint with the Financial Ombudsman. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -

I agree. All the legislation going back years carefully debated in the Houses of Parliament and still clever salesmen\marketing people appear to get away with whatever they want.
Makes you wonder what the point of having laws at all is

We got this letter today& the Zero card sounds fantastic - no conversion fee on purchases abroad, and 0% for 12 months with no fee on balance transfers.
It also mentions that the old A&L card is run by MBNA & will no longer be part of A&L so if it's administered by a different organisation it's worth applying anyway? I will give it a go, if only for the 0% abroad!0 -
I've received the same letter also.
I can't find anything at all in the letter which says "subject to...", so it will be interesting to see what the credit limit looks like when it eventually turns up...Mortgage Feb 2001 - £129,000
Mortgage July 2007 - £0
Original Mortgage Termination Date - Nov 2018
Mortgage Interest saved - £63790.60
ISA Profit since Jan 1st 2015 - 98.2% (updated 1 Dec 2020)0 -
I received this letter about 1 1/2 months ago from Abbey the form at the top says "Guranteed" and doesn't ask for any information simply your siganture, a passwordnd a few other bits and bobs - no questions about income or employer etc.
I received my Zero card through after about 2 weeks with a £6000 limit!
There was no reference at all about subject to conditions etc, the letter even stated at the bottom "you've nothing to lose, you're GURANTEED to be accepted" or words to that effect...0 -

i got this letter and sent off my application yesterday.
I wanted to ask a question, which is applicable to any credit card i guess - it says the first (i think) 3 months would be interest free - does this mean literally that you don't have to pay anything off in these three months (if you want) because it will not incur any fees of any sort? thanks0 -

No unfortunately it doesn't. You still have to pay the minimum payments during that time, it's just that for the first 3 months, the outstanding balance won't gather any interest. You're spelling is effecting me so much. so the amount repayable in the first three months is the actual value of what you have spent?0
