Air India/American Airlines/Kuwait Airways to NY

Im considering a last minute getaway to new york for a few days and the three most reasonable airlines seem to be Air India, American Airlines and Kuwait Airway, so has anyone got any feedback on any of these companies before I consider booking also any ideas on cheap clean central accomodation.

Ta for now

i honestly cant say ive noticed any real difference between any firm.

Ask which one has seat back tv's they do make a difference to a flight though.

The only thing I will say is that if you fly via Air India or Kuwait you should probably expect to be in the immigration lines a long, long time. The same thing would of course apply if you came in immediately after such a flight. It has been my experience that non US carrier flights have a large proportion of non-us citizens, and as such, immigration can take forever.

Can't speak for others but have flown on American 6 times now. Seat back TV, 2 5 2 formation, I found legroom really good and I'm not the smallest person in the world (in any direction....) Free headsets, choice of meals, free soft drinks but have to pay for alcohol ($5 or £3) Food - I would get something to eat on board but it's not any worse than most. FA can be hit ot miss. Tend to be a bit older. Security quite tight as you would expect.

Remember to sign up for their advantage programme. You get some miles, even for the cheapest tickets and also seem to get preferential treatment in seat allocation.

Have you tried across on Flyer talk? They tend to be total eggheads on everything to do with flights. Very good though. :D

    Hi
I fly regularly with work and until recently only used BA or BMI. I had to go with American to Philadelphia recently and was pleasantly surprised. Tvs were good - plenty of choice with option to stop and start films etc if you wanted a wee (!), food OK (never brilliant on flights but at least edible) and all on time.
Have to pay for booze but soft drinks and coffee etc is free.
Would recommend them if they're cheaper.

I've flown on Kuwait Airways to New York and it was fine. Food was normal airline food, there were seat back TVs (but anything sexual or swearing was cut from the films) and didnt notice any difference in immigration to when I went on United. I'd use them again.

If I had the choice out of the three airlines (having not travelled with either personally, but knowing many who have) I'd opt for American Airlines. As has been suggested by a previous poster, sign up to their AAdvantage frequent flyer programme and you'll be able to collect miles even on low fares.

A useful tip, if you are going to the States, try Aer Lingus via Dublin or Shannon. It takes a bit longer but it does break the flight. The main advantage is that you clear US immigration in the Irish Republic before you board the 'plane.

I've flown a few times with Kuwait Airlines to or from Kuwait within the Middle East. The flights were fine, the food was ok - although no alcohol, wasn't an issue for me but might be for others - and the crew were friendly. The only issue was that the flights were often delayed, sometimes by several hours. I may have just been unlucky with the flights that I chose.
