    sorry i am the opposite, i would say stay away from virgin, my dad was with virgin for years (starting with ntl and then virgin when they took over) he was paying over £80 a month with them and still had the standard ntl box, didn't take off the price of setanta even when they folded.
    I got him to change over to sky+hd and he has more channels and better service paying £45 p/m, nearly half the price, and when he wanted to cancel virgin he still had to pay for the remainder month and sky.

    I think the thing with both companies though is that all they really care about is getting new customers and not giving a stuff about existing customers because they now 'have you'
